Q:If power goes out can you still use this stovetop? Right now all I have to do is turn my knob and use a lighter to light
    by|Jan 8, 2020

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes. You have to hold down the knob as if you're lighting with the ignitor so the gas comes out and then just use a match or lighter to ignite the gas.

      Answer This Question

A:  The knobs are made of plastic.

      by|Dec 30, 2019

A:  They have the look of stainless steel but they are plastic...they are a very solid sturdy plastic though.

Q:Is the depth measured from the top of the burners? If not how is is measured

          Answer This Question

A:  It was measured by the glass panel

          by|Dec 13, 2019

A:  Yes, seems to be measured from the top of the grates. A dimension from the surface to the bottom would be handy - it is actually not very deep below the surface. I was concerned about this issue as well, having drawers below, but no problem.

Q:Ignites no flame and hooked to gas line

              Answer This Question

A:  I'm not sure what you mean, but on ours you have to hold down the igniter for a while even after the burner lights; otherwise it goes out. The large burner with the two rings of flame has to be held down the longest.

Q:Does this have an electronic ignition? Many of the reviews say this does not light like conventional gas ignitions?

                Answer This Question

A:  It does have electric igniters that light easily. I had a natural gas stovetop before I moved to a place that does not have natural gas so I am using this stovetop with the propane convection. These burners with the way the knobs work is awkward to me...they ignite easily but then when you turn the knob past ignite the flame goes out a lot...I don't know if this is related to the propane or just a quirk of this cooktop because this is my first propane cooktop.

A:  Yes, it has electronic ignition.

Q:The cooktop came with two s/s pieces along the back of the unit. Each piece of s/s is 14" long and affixed with 3 rivets. How are these pieces of metal removed. They are not shown in any photos and not included in the installation instructions. Please advise Geraldine

                    Answer This Question

A:  They are not meant to be removed. The cast iron grates have small holes that fit over the projections on the stainless steel pieces along the back of the unit. These keep the grates from shifting during cooking.

                    by|Sep 3, 2019

A:  Do not remove. When you put the grates on they will cover this steel and the nubs fit under the grates and hold them in place.

A:  You press down and turn to the ignite symbol then once ignited let lift slightly then continue to turn to flame level you want.

                            Answer This Question

A:  I had a similar cutout. I had to build a wood support around the hole 1/4 on left and right side and 1/2 on front and back, because that opening will be too big for the overall dimensions of the cooktop. I was able to do this myself, but I'm sure a handyman can do the job. There are places online where you can then buy trim to cover the wood so you have a clean look on the countertop instead of possibly showing part of the wood after placing the cooktop. We got trim at microtrim.com.

Q:Is the burner area recessed? Do the grates slide around or are the fixed and how?

                              Answer This Question

A:  The burners are not recessed, they rise above the glass top. There is a steel plate on the back that has nubs that hold the grates in place (the steel is completely covered when grates are in place and doesn't show).

                              by|Feb 13, 2020

A:  Grates are centered by burner cutout area. Grate don't move around. No glass above the burner - different than an electric glass top.
