A: They should work fine, just make sure you put the cable in the clamp right, the dead end of the cable should go on the clamp/nut side.

Q:I am trying to make a tie out line for my dog. I have 1/16" coated wire rope and was wondering if these are the right size clamps to use since the wire is coated. I know if I take the coating off the wire is 1/16" but I want to leave it on.

A: For the Everbilt 1/8 in. Zinc-Plated Wire Rope Clamp (2-Pack), the recommended method is to remove the coating so we recommend to use the Everbilt 1/8 in. x 75 ft. Galvanized Dog Run Cable Exerciser Kit, Internet #203958753, Model #803202, Store SKU #274954.

A: These would do the job...but you would have to use about 15 of them. They only accept 1/8" wire rope which I would never trust for that kind of loading.

A: 7/16 steel rope has a working strength of 3300 pounds. Everbilt doesn't seem to have a working strength spec. BTW what does "2500 pounds or more" actually mean?
