A:  With three tab shingles like the royal sovereign, you cut the shingles into three pieces (one foot by one foot) and use each tab to cap the hips and ridges. They are exposed 5 inches and overlapped 7 inches, so best to nail in the first two inches of the overlap so the nails go through two layers or courses of cap, just like the field shingles. I have been a professional roofing contractor for 32 years.

A:  You'l need approximately 13 bundles of Royal Sovereign Slate for 18x24 roof. Please add 10-20% for overage and waste. You may need additional bundles for your ridge cap as Royal Sovereign can be used as a ridge cap shingle.

A:  18x24 equals 432 square feet, bundle covers 33 and 1/3, so 13 bundles if zero waste, but more likely 15 with starter shingles and ridge cap shingles.

A:  Hello and thank you for your question. Each shingle measures 12" x 36" (304.8 mm x 914.4 mm) with an exposure of 5" (127 mm).

A:  12 inch high by 36 inch wide, but they are installed with 5 inch vertical exposure (seven inch overlap).
