A:  1 square is 3 bundles. As far as the felt paper, it depends on what underlayment you use. Some Synthetic underlayment are 1000 sq ft a roll . 1 square is 100 sq ft.

A:  You'll need approximately 37 bundles of Timberline Natural Shadow Shakewood for 1218 sq. ft. Please add 10-20% for overage and waste. Don't forget to place your order for the matching Shakewood ridge cap shingles. GAF offers TimberTex and Seal-A-Ridge shingles.

A:  A single bundle covers 33.3 sq//ft, divide 1218 by 33.3 and you get 37 (36.6) bundles. But to do the job you will need to factor in some additional requirements. (1) You will need an edge row made up of either shingles turned upside down or edging material. To calculate that, you take the linear circumference of the roof, FOR EXAMPLE 20 X 60 = 160 l/f. 160 L/F is 40 shingles or approximately 2 bundles. (2) Ridge Row, the top row of the roof. This is normally a shingle cut into 3rds. To estimate this measure the roof ridge and any other ridges you will have to cover. FOR EXAMPLE 60 L/F. 60 L/F is approximately 35 shingles or 1 shingle for each 18 inches. That would be 1.5 bundles (3) Scrap and damage has to be factored in your estimate. Usually, it is 10-15% of of the total number of shingles. IN OUR EXAMPLE we have 40.5 bundles, so we should add 4-6 bundles. IN OUR EXAMPLE that would be 45-47 bundles. If you have too many, it is easy to return, If you don't have enough, you can easily purchase more.

A:  Coverage is 3 bundles per 100 Sq ft. Don’t get less then 10 bundles. 11 to be safe. You will need shingles for starter course and ridge cap. (An option is a starter roll and metal ridge cap) Be sure to follow directions on trimming the first shingle on each course. Important to achieve correct look (Alignment) when using architectural shingles. Depending on actual length of each course (length of roof) and number of courses needed, some trimmed shingles may not be able to be used on a subsequent course. Normally allow for ~ 10 % more than actual square foot needed. Good luck and stay safe!
