Q:What happened to the older style adapter that fits flush to the wall and trimmed the installation to a finished look. It had two, one to three adapters as part of this product. It also came in an ivory color. These new designs are mostly junk.

A:  No, it plugs into two existing receptacles, and then you have six instead of two.

A:  Hello Molmal, thank you for your question. The use of silicone caulk should not affect the performance of this wall tap.

A:  Sounds like they possibly wired that receptacle to work off of a wall switch

A:  First, try another outlet. If you’re still encountering the same issue, the unit may be defective. It sounds like that may be the issue though. I have two of these and have had no issues.

A:  Hello Sally, thank you for your question. It appears that the top 3 outlets might be dead. We would suggest trying a couple of different appliances or maybe locations to see if that helps. If you are still experiencing issues, please give us a call between the hours of 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Central Standard Time, Monday thru Friday at 1-800-654-8483, and press option 4. A:  The adapter ONLY plugs into the upper wall outlet. This is a safety feature, since plugging into BOTH top and bottom would create a bridge between two POTENTIALLY separate circuits, as is your situation. A bridge COULD create a SHORT, or even a 240 volt situation, depending on what kind of nonsense wiring was set up inside the box. Never underestimate the creative idiocy of the previous owner of your home! GE will not set themselves up for potential lawsuits! (Hypothetically, GE could design their wall adapter to tap into the upper and lower outlets SEPARATELY, feeding the upper 3 adapter outlets off of the upper wall outlet, and the lower 3 similarly off of the lower wall outlet. But they don't). In your case, this adapter will make the function of the lower wall outlet unavailable. You will either lose the switched power or the unswitched power, depending on which is the lower outlet. If you really need BOTH functions, your only recourse is to replace the box in your wall with a larger box (4-by or 6-by ganged), and wire appropriately. Maybe there IS a wall adapter on the market that matches the hypothetical product I described. If so, BUY IT! On re-reading your question, perhaps this is actually what you were trying to ask... IS THERE such a "separately-tapped" product? I haven't seen one.

A:  Yes it should work all plugs, but you need to keep your switch on the ON position for the top to work.

A:  The back of this unit only has ONE plug. It will cover the both of them. It is designed to plug into the top outlet. Remove the face plate first, attach the unit, then screw it into the outlet hole.

A:  Hi Barbara, thank you for your question. Both of the plugs on our wall adapter are functional. The top plug will control the top 3 outlets and the bottom plug will control the bottom 3 outlets. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to respond or give us a call between the hours of 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Central Standard Time, Monday thru Friday at 1-800-654-8483. Thank you.

A:  My previous answer was wrong, because this product is better designed than i thought. Apologies. I based my answer on my experience with older designs that tapped only the upper outlet. My apologies.
