A:  Hi Kate - Thanks for considering GE® ENERGY STAR® 17.5 Cu. Ft. Top-Freezer Refrigerator GTE18GSHSS! Models are typically shipped with a right hand door opening ("hinges" on right), and the handles get installed on the left. It cannot be ordered with a left hand door opening. However, the door swing can be reversed so that the door opens in the opposite direction. For directions on reversing the door swing on your refrigerator, we suggest consulting your Installation Instructions or view a video online at this link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=35111 - You can also contact the HD.com customer service department at 800-430-3376 for installation options. A:  Hi Ray - Thanks for your interest! The freezer will not maintain refrigerator temperatures. The recommended refrigerator temperature is 37 degrees F and 0 degrees F in the freezer. Based on settings, usage, food load, room temperature etc., food temperature range in the refrigerator is generally between 34-42 degrees Fahrenheit and between -5 and +8 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer section. Answer This Question

A:  Hi Andrew - Normal warmth is created by the automatic energy saver system circulating warm liquid around the front edge of the of the freezer compartment (area between the doors) to help prevent condensation on the outside of the refrigerator, especially in hot, humid weather. This area will always be warmer (sometimes hot) when the compressor has to run longer than usual. We suggest to clean underneath with an appliance brush or vacuum and improving air flow around the refrigerator (Air Clearances: 2" Back, 1" Top, 3/4" Sides). A:  Hi Archie- Thanks for sharing your concern about the operating sounds with us. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating. You'll find the normal operating conditions on page 20 of the Owner's Manual at the following link: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/14/14f2d688-4453-480c-bfff-28cab6370f2d.pdf - Keep in touch! A:  According to the GE website, refrigerators can make a variety of noises. Mine makes popping noises, and the one I had before that made clicking noises, but it doesn't make the kind of howling noise that you describe. https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901
