Q:How do you set the temperature? All it does it beep and goes right back to 'actual temp' - We can't find anywhere that actually explains how to change it
    by|Aug 14, 2022
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hey - you can set the temperature by using the arrows next to the digital display on the freezer side of this unit. Pressing on the "Up" or "Down" arrow once will show the actual temperature but pressing either arrow again will switch you to "Set Temperature", and you can adjust the temperature. Please keep in mind that, once the desired temperature has been set, the temperature display will return to the actual refrigerator and freezer temperatures until the new set temperature is reached. -- Please reach out to us on social media if we can assist you further. Have a great one. - Pablo@GEA

Q:Had this refrigerator 3 months and now the ice maker stopped.
        by|Jan 23, 2022

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're so sorry to hear your ice maker stopped working after just 3 months. This is certainly not what we'd expect to happen and we're happy to help. We first suggest the following tips: 1) Make sure the doors are fully closed. 2) Frozen ice in the bucket can cause only crushed ice to be dispensed or keep ice from dispensing at all. The bucket can be removed and rinsed with warm water. If the condition reappears, the icemaker may be leaking or overfilling which would require service. 3) Ice may occasionally jam in the ice chute. If this occurs, open the left refrigerator door, open the ice box door on the inside of the left door, then remove the ice bucket. Place a container in the dispenser recess on the outside of the door. Using a wooden spoon, push the ice out of the chute into the container in the recess. 4) It is possible that moisture or frost could have formed behind the freezer wall on the auger motor. a) Set the dispenser for cubed ice. b) Take a glass and push in on the cradle and hold in for 30 to 60 seconds. c) This will allow the motor to run to create some heat to melt the moisture or frost. If it doesn't dispense after 1 minute, then service would be required. If the problem persists, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). We’re confident our technician will be able to get you taken care of if needed. We're wishing you the best and we want to thank you for choosing GE Appliances. - Guy@GEA

A:  Hi there, Thanks for reaching out with your question. The glass shelves are 1/2" thick including the frame around them. These shelves should not exceed 50 pounds total weight for full width shelves and 25 pounds for half width shelves. We appreciate you checking with us and hope this helps! - Sharon@GEA

Q:Brand new and water will not dispense, what could be the problem and how to fix it?
            by|Jan 2, 2022

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello there, we're so sorry your brand new refrigerator isn't dispensing water as it should. We understand what a disappointment this would be for you and we're happy to help. We recommend first checking the following: 1) Verify that the water line to the refrigerator is turned on. A saddle valve is often used to connect the water supply line coming from the house plumbing to the refrigerator and the valve must be fully open for the refrigerator to receive water. 2) Make sure the refrigerator dispenser cradle has been held down for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the water reservoir to fill completely. Once water is dispensed, you can purge air from the water lines and water inlet valve by dispensing water for 5 minutes or in the amount of 2 gallons. 3) This does not apply to Top Freezer refrigerator models with a water dispenser because there is no water reservoir. 4) If the doors were removed during installation, be sure that the door wiring harness is plugged in. 5) Air may be trapped in the water system after replacing the filter. Press the dispenser cradle for at least 5 minutes to purge any air from the water lines. If these tips don't help, we recommend taking advantage of your warranty and scheduling service with a certified GE Appliances technician that will be able to accurately diagnose and repair your appliance. You can do so by calling GE Appliance Service at 1-800-GECares (1-800-432-2737). We know our technician would be able to get you taken care of. We want to once again apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and let you know we appreciate you choosing GE Appliances. - Guy@GEA

Q:why does ice from ice maker fall down into freezer shelves below
              by|Dec 31, 2021
              1 Answer
              Answer This Question

A:  Hello there, we appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us and we're sorry that you've been having issues with ice falling down into your freezer shelves. We know how annoying this would be to deal with and we're happy to help. If the icemaker is not stopping when the ice cube storage bucket is full and the bucket is overflowing, there are several things you can check in an attempt to remedy the concern: 1) Be sure the bucket is properly positioned directly under the icemaker. 2) Many refrigerators have a small shelf that sits above the ice bucket. This is most often found in a Side-by-Side style refrigerator. Be sure this is in place. 3) Make sure the feeler arm is not broken. The feeler arm is either a metal rod on the side of the icemaker or a plastic paddle that sits horizontal under the icemaker. If the arm or paddle is broken, the icemaker needs to be replaced. You can order from GE Appliance Parts at 1-800-626-2002. The metal arm moves up and down. When the metal arm is pushed all the way up, the icemaker is in the "off" position. The plastic paddle moves in and out when the icemaker cycles. When the paddle is pushed in under the icemaker, it is in the "off" position. To turn off the icemaker, find the on/off toggle switch or slide switch on the side or front of the icemaker and turn it off. 4) Some refrigerators have a freezer shelf that must be used when installing an icemaker. The purpose of this shelf is to elevate the ice bin/storage bucket. If the shelf is not installed properly, the feeler arm does not correctly judge the level of ice in the bin which causes the ice to overflow. We hope this information is found helpful to you and we're wishing you the absolute the best. Thank you for choosing GE Appliances. - Guy@GEA
