Answer This Question
A: Hi there, thanks for asking! Yes, this new model would make for a nice replacement. Based on our research of each model's installation instructions, the only difference in the cutout requirements is that the older unit, from the floor to the top of the counter, has a measurement of: 35 1/2" - 36 1/2". The newer model states that, at minimum, the measurement from the floor to the top of the counter needs to be 28 1/2". Hope this is helpful! Q:Can this replace model JDP36GH3BG
by|Jun 27, 2022

Answer This Question
A: Hi! Thanks for asking. Based on our research, your older drop in range lists the following for cutout requirements: 29" min between cabinets for range, 30" min to bottom of cabinet above range, 18" min to bottom of cabinets on either side of range, from the base panel to the top of the countertop would be 29" and from the floor to the top of the countertop would be 36". Your older model also lists 3 3/8" min to a wall on either side of the range and a cutout depth (without backsplash) as 21 5/8", with backsplash: 24". - The new model you're looking to purchase here lists the following cutout requirements: 29 15/16" min - 30 1/16" max for the cutout width, 28 1/2" min from the top of the countertop to the top of the acceptable electrical outlet area, 23 3/16" cutout depth. The height from the bottom of the cabinets above the range remains the same at 30" however the cabinet bottoms on either side of the range can be as low as 15" min. We also recommend 6" min from the range to an adjacent wall. We do hope this is helpful! If you have other questions or concerns, know that you're always free to reach out. Q:Hello, Is there a trim piece that goes on the sides of the oven top to fill the gap?
by|Jun 15, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi there, thanks for reaching out and asking. The sides of the cooktop actually extend a bit out onto the countertop so there is no need for a trim piece. To properly install the unit you need to allow for, at least. 9/16" of flat countertop in the area shown on page 3 section 2 of your installation instructions, here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/7f/7fbaefb7-793e-48eb-a74c-cb6d0b903596.pdf - Hope this is helpful! Q:Is this model (JD630SFSS without convection) safe for pressure canning or will the glass crack? What is recommended maximum canner size, in quarts and dimensions, please?
by|May 29, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi there, thanks for reaching out! Canning should be done on surface units only. Normally, pots that extend beyond one inch of the cooking element's trim ring are not recommended for most surface cooking; however, when canning with a water-bath, pressure canner, or pressure cooker, larger diameter pots may be used. This is because boiling water temperatures (even under pressure) are not harmful to cooktop surfaces surrounding the surface units. This information also pertains to both coil burners (including Sensi-Temp burners) and glass cooktop surfaces. If you'd like more information, you can see an article on our website titled CANNING ON GAS AND ELECTRIC RANGES AND COOKTOPS. We hope this helps! Happy cooking. -Michael@GEA

Q:I noticed that the operation guide say to broil with the door open. However the GE answer to the same question says it's designed for closed door broiling. Which is correct?

Answer This Question
A: Hi! Thanks for checking, we do apologize for any confusion. Some Free-Standing Electric Ranges broil with the door open. However, most of our currently produced electric ranges broil with the door closed. The JD630 has a broil stop position on the door so we recommend broiling with the door open. We do hope this helps! Happy cooking. -Michael@GEA

A: Hi - Thank you for your continued loyalty to our brand. The JD630DFWW would be considered a comparable replacement model. We do recommend reviewing the specifications and installation instructions to compare your existing cutout opening to that which is needed for the new model -- https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/61a1eb43-a334-40e2-9996-b5d484173aeb.pdf -- All our best! Answer This Question
A: Hi - Thank you for your interest in this beautiful drop-in range. The design of a drop-in range is for the cooktop surface of the unit to rest and overlap the counter top on each side which accounts for the cooktop width of 31 1/4". This is different from a slide-in which rests on the floor in your kitchen and doesn't overlap your counter top. The cutout required to accommodate the range is 30" as shown in the following specifications -- https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/61a1eb43-a334-40e2-9996-b5d484173aeb.pdf -- We do hope you find this helpful. Q:Can you attach the warming drawer from an older model?
by|Dec 16, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: HI - We're glad you reached out. No, you can't attach or change this range to add the warming drawer from an older model. This would be modifying the new model from it's original design which has been tested for reliability and safety. Should you attempt to do so could put your manufacturer's warranty in jeopardy. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA
