A:  This is light activated, meaning when you turn off the overhead light off, these turn on. NOTE: the overhead light needs to be either fairly bright or in close proximity to turn these off.

    A:  It doesnt appear so from the pictures. (looks as if it needs a hot on one side and neutral on the other side for power, a light switch would not have the neutral connection and the hot would not line up to the connection on this plate)

      Q:The light turned on when dark and then off when light was in the room. Now the light just stays on all day. I removed the cover for about 30 min and reinstalled it and get the same result. I just purchased them a week ago and no linger have my boxes.

      A:  I found the same problem. I think the ambient light needs to be BRIGHT to trigger the sensor. I installed one in my hallway with the result you described (not turning off). Put in higher lumen count bulbs into my ceiling fixture and that did the trick.
