Answer This Question
A: I would think so as long as the center mounting screw of the cover will reach the center hole of the electrical outlet. Mine is mounted vertically on a brick wall.

A: The flip covers for the outlets do not sit flush. They protrude quite a bit. Good for walls but I would not use them on the floor.

A: I used them outside but I don't see why they can't be used for a floor plug, they may not fit where you are trying to use them though

A: Why not ?

A: Although this cover will keep most weather out mounted vertically, it is not listed by UL for that purpose. I don't recommend using vertically. You can buy a vertical listed cover. It is hinged from the top when mounted in the vertical position. Better yet, buy an "in use" cover. it keeps the receptacle protected from the elements even with a cord plugged in.

A: Each receptacle has it's own lid, which is spring loaded and self closing. I use mine on a counter top of a converted van and it works great keeping debris from the electrical receptacles.

A: This is a "self closing" cover as are most weatherproof covers. I'm not sure if the code still allows the "stay open" style. If I find that they are still available, I will post here again with information..

Q:Can this be used to cover switches as well? Or just outlets?
by|Jun 3, 2018

Answer This Question
A: I used mine to cover outlet plugs. I don’t think this cover will function properly if it is used to cover switches.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Just outlets. The cover fits very snug over the opening which would not allow room for the cover to close if there were a switch in between.
by|May 5, 2023
A: This is a outlet. They do make covers for switches
by|May 5, 2023
A: I bought mine for outlets. I just don't think you could use them for switches because of the shape of them. They would not close all the way because the switch would protrude out to far and not let the cover close tightly.
by|May 5, 2023
A: just outlet's not switches
