Q:Is this product truly clear? I just purchased "Husky" brand 6 mil "clear" plastic, but it is milky white - barely translucent. I purchased the Husky brand because it is narrower - 6' as opposed to the 10' wide HDX product, so easier to work with. That said, if this HDX product truly is clear, I will find a way to work with it. Thanks!

Answer This Question

A:  This product is construction-grade clear (construction-grade film is made largely of recycled materials making the “clear” milky, not window-pane clear). Due to the recycled content of the product, transparency will vary from roll to roll.

A:  No, it is translucent. There is no such thing as clear (construction grade) plastic sheeting. Not in the thickness you are apparently seeking.

      A:  Nope... It's opaque

A:  This great product does have some haze appearance. I personally, use it for wrapping large rugs in, as I change them seasonally. It protects them from any "critters" that enter my garage when I'm not looking. That is where I store my rugs. I am always pleased with the performance of this product. No worries, but yes it has a haze, or milky appearance. Good Luck

A:  This is not clear, definitely translucent. I do get enough sun through it to support my greenhouse plants.

A:  It was not exactly clear but fuzzy. No color, like black. Wouldn't make a very good window.

A:  There are too many variables to make a recommendation on the application that you have suggested. Please consult a local contractor on using this product in that capacity.

A:  Not thick enough to last long term.

              by|Feb 28, 2019

A:  No... You'll need a pvc pan liner material

A:  My suggestion to this question is, speak with a concrete specialist to see if this will withstand mortar and protect as a moisture barrier. It's a great product and 4 or 6 mil has quality thickness. Good Luck

A:  This plastic is a great product and is made to protect certain things. I would speak with your Home Depot specialist in millwork or tile and flooring and ask them what they suggest for thickness when used as a moisture barrier. They should have the best answer for your project. Good Luck

Q:Would grommets work along the edge to hang it? Would cloth tape stick to it for a border? Does it tear easily?

A:  This is a construction grade film made largely from recycled materials. It does not contain any UV inhibitors and is not intended to be exposed to the elements for extended and extended period.

A:  That is similar to the use I make of it. I actually wrap the porch with the plastic and screw small boards to hold it in place. It typically allows full usage of my 12x 24 ft sunroom all winter (Connecticut) with just a small electric heater. Mine is attached outdoors and does not tear, even in high winds. Grommets would work well with this.

A:  Warning to all--I ordered CLEAR. The box said CLEAR when it arrived. But this plastic is WHITE and you can't see through it at all.

A:  This is a plastic, which would not be suggested to use as a drapery or another type of protection from mother nature elements, especially around a space heater. Any plastic can be dangerous around a space heater. Please consider this when using any thickness of plastic which is highly flammable. Good luck.

I think it's pretty crazy and doesnt seem to work well for this usecase - will be looking for alternatives. location: connecticut.

A:  No. At least not the roll I received, which was supposed to be clear. Even the box said CLEAR in big letters. But the plastic is WHITE and blocks sunlight. Worthless as a garden cover.
