Q:I know that your company has stated that your food grade DE and crawling insect DE are the exact same ingredients. I have a carpet beetle problem & just want to make sure the food grade will work the same? I know they are labeled different for good reason

A:  I absolutely love this product!! It 100% works!! As a matter of fact, I had used it for about six months, and then we had to move out. All the rooms had become cluttered but I still put out the product anyway. Let me tell you, when I saw just how many dead bugs, and I mean many different kinds, lady bugs, stink bugs, beetle bugs, flip beetle bugs,,ect I was amazed. I had no idea that many types were coming into the house. Not to mention it kept the fleas down as well!! I am forever a fan of diatomaceous earth! Plus, this company puts some proceeds to their local animals in need! LOVE THEM!!

        Answer This Question

A:  No, this is not safe to use around animals for the following reasons: 1. dusting the powder on kittens will result in them breathing it in and getting it in their eyes. Diatomaceous earth can irritate respiratory passages and can irritate the conjunctiva of the eye, like sand in the eyes, only worse. 2. DE in the fur can be licked off, resulting in irritation of the mouth, tongue, esophagus. Dusting with DE is worse in these regards than DE on surfaces (floor) but animals sniffing DE (I am thinking dogs here) could have their nasal passages irritated.

                Answer This Question

A:  HI Mike! Harris Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is packaged and labeled to be added to animal feed as an anticaking agent. It cannot be labeled with directions to kill insects as it says food grade. Harris Crawling Insect Killer Diatomaceous Earth is labeled to kill insects and is registered with the EPA in order to make claims it kills insects and cannot say food grade. These labels have to adhere to regulatory standards, and we cannot veer from them. They are the identical ingredient. The label for Harris Crawling Insect Killer states: Dust mattresses, especially folds and edges. A:  I don't think there is a way to weigh it down. It is like baby powder & lasts for a couple of years. The bed bugs are gone but it continues to kill pests such as centipedes, ants & various other bugs.

A:  I don't have any animals but I put it behind the coach being the garbage behind refrigerator and stove. Put it in the places only crawling things can go not where a cat or dog can get to. Hope that helps

                          Answer This Question

A:  Harris Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is labeled with directions to add to animal feed in an amount not to exceed 2% by weight of total ration. This means the amount of food consumed x .02%, equals the amount of diatomaceous added to feed daily; it is a small amount. Thank you. P.F. Harris
