Q:why are the mounting screws so long? They stick out way to far
by|Jan 12, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: They exist that way for primarily for one reason: The weight of the fixture requires that amount of counterweight, which the long screws create by mounting deep into a post/siding/etc. You can always shorten them with a Hacksaw or Reciprocating Saw

Q:My husband recently installed four of these at our home. He said it was straight forward. However, one of them has “blown” the bulb twice. First was one that shows the filaments, 60 watt LED. Second was just a regular 60 watt LED shatterproof bulb. Turn it on, its fine. Turn it off. Wait, turn it back on, then some sparks flew and the bulb made a popping sound. But then the bulb stays on. Has he installed it improperly? Defective lantern? Somethint else?

Answer This Question
A: Hello, To me it sounds as if there is an electrical surge happening. It could also be the bulb itself. I say this as 3 of the 4 have had no problems. I would try using the same bulb that you have had no problem with in the 3 and try one of those bulbs from the 3 to see if the situation still occurs in the fixture you have the ongoing problem with. Q:Can I turn off the motion sensor and use as a regular light (just turn on and off)

Answer This Question
A: This does not come with a motion sensor. You may have a motion sensor bulb installed in the sconce. Just remove that bulb and replace with a incandescent A19 bulb.

A: We don’t use the motion, especially if close to trees that blow in the wind. We do use a clear 60 w equivalent LED bulb that uses very little electricity.
We have 6 of these. 2 we added day night sensors. If using motion or light sensors, especially with LED bulbs, it’s not unusual to get a flicker till dark, or motion is intermittent.
We chose not to use motion and they wave worked beautifully for over a year now.
