Q:Hi. I have two separate single toggle switches that control my existing ceiling fans light and fan. If I install this ceiling fan with the remote, then will my toggle switches turn the light and fan on and off? Will they power the fan or will only the remote do that? Thanks

Answer This Question

A:  The remote will do all control. I have double switches installed by the builder I left one on the other is abandoned.

by|Oct 8, 2020

A:  Thank you for your question. Technically, yes, but it would require altering the wiring of the fan. For optimal performance, we would recommend connecting the receiver to one standard on/off wall switch which would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the witch while retaining complete control of the fan with the remote. Connecting the fan to 2 wall switches would require cutting the blue wire of the fan from the quick connect wire plug in order to connect it to a switch wire. This would omit light control from the remote.

Q:Hi, can I add pull chains to this fan or will they not work to control light and fan speed? Thanks

    Answer This Question

A:  I would say no. It is remote controlled only.

    by|Apr 11, 2021

A:  The fan comes with a remote. Several function are controlled. Lights on, dimming, fan on - 3 speeds, breeze function, off/on. It doesn't need or accommodate pull chains.

    by|Oct 8, 2020

A:  Thank you for your question. The only control options would be the included remote control, or installing without the remote receiver and wiring directly to wall control switches. Pull chains can not be added to the fan.

Q:Hi.. Is it normal for the fan to shake at the highest fan speed? My installer says it normal. The entire fan and light shake when it's running at highest fan speed.

A:  No, it is not normal. A fan balancing kit may be needed. Alot of trial and error unless you weigh the blades on a good gram scale. My fan didnt need balancing. Note:it can be a pain to get it balanced. The fan kit would have weights you would add to the blade with double sided tape. Trial and error. I've had success with a kitchen gram/oz scale.

A:  Thank you for your question. When in stalled properly, the fan should not shake. Please make sure that the ball of the downrod is properly seated in the mounting bracket so that the slot of the ball is seated on the tab in the inner ring of the bracket. Also make sure the set screw on the motor collar is completely tightened. Most shaking/wobbling issues can be attribute to loose parts. Please also check that the outlet box is completely tightened to the house support structure. If that does not resolve the issue, please call Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460 and one of the team members will be able to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Q:Does this fan give enough light to lit the room bright if we don’t have night lamps or any other light in the room except this fan in master bedroom and is it a quiet fan? Please assist

        Answer This Question

A:  Very bright Led bulbs. Dimmer on remote. I was pleasantly surprised how bright they can be. We used the dimmer function on remote to reduce brightness to watch TV. Full brightness would be more than enough for video.

        by|Oct 8, 2020

A:  Thank you for your question. The amount of light is relative to room size and personal preference. In general, we recommend using a ceiling fan light as a supplemental light source as opposed to the sole source of light in any room. The bulbs can be replaced with higher wattage bulbs if more light is desired. The sockets use standard A19 shape/E26 base bulbs up to 60 watts max.

A:  It dims in steps, three i believe.

          by|Aug 4, 2020

A:  It will cycle from dim to bright with the remote. Bright is plenty bright on mine.

          by|Oct 8, 2020

A:  Thank you for your question. Yes, the remote dims the lights. The light button on the remote remote cycles through the brightness settings from bright to dim to bright again. Press and hold the light button and release once the desired brightness level is achieved.

Q:Hi. If we install this fan to work with the remote, can I still turn it on and off with my light switch instead of searching for the remote in the dark? I know that the remote will be needed to control the speeds, but will my light switch still turn it on and off? Thank you!!

A:  Mine requires the remote to function. I leave the switch on, and abandoned the second switch installed by builder.

            by|Oct 8, 2020

A:  Yes, you will be able to turn it on and off without remote.

            by|Aug 24, 2020

A:  Thank you for your question. The fan's receiver can be connected to a wall switch. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. The remote receiver has a memory that will restore the fan to its last setting when powered on. Alternatively, the fan's blue wire can bypass the remote receiver and be connected directly to the switch which would allow you to turn the light on/off using the switch, but it would omit light control from the remote. If you want to wire the fan's light wire (blue) to the switch directly, you will just need to cut it from the quick connect wire harness.

Q:Hi. Does the remote come with the battery and if not, which battery does it use? Also, if I lose the remote and buy a second one from you, will it automatically work or do I need an electrician to rewire a new receiver? And, will my light switch actually turn on the fan or will it not work at all anymore? Thanks!

A:  Thank you for your question. Yes, the batteries are included with the fan. The remote uses 2 AAA batteries. If you lose the remote and order a replacement, it should work with the original receiver. The fan can be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch which would turn the fan and light power on/off.

A:  The remote comes with batteries. Don't remember if AAA or AA type. Pretty common.

Q:Hello. Can someone tell me if this ceiling fan can be operated from a light switch?? Do I need to buy a fan control switch? I am not a fan of remote controls because they get misplaced or run out of batteries. Thank you!

                  Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Yes, this fan can be wired to wall controls. We would recommend the Lutron Maestro switch for fan and light control. The fan has a quick connect wire harness plug to make connection to the receiver easy. If you want to wire to wall controls instead of the remote, you will need to cut the plug off from the fan wires to separate the wires to be able to wire to the wall control switches. In general, remote control fans can not be used with both a wall control and the remote. Doing so will damage the receiver.

A:  If your fan /or light is controlled by a switch. Leave the light switch in the on position. Then use the remote for all controls. If the power is supplied at the ceiling you can abandon the switch.
