Answer This Question
A: All Engineered wood flooring are not waterproof. If you plan to do your floor in the bathroom. I suggest you pick a tile that is made to look like wood. The moisture in the bathroom will damage wood flooring of any kind at some point.

A: I wouldn't advise using it in a bathroom. While liquids will sit on top long enough to wipe them up, it's still bamboo which can be porous. You'd be better off looking at a laminate imitation wood. It's a beautiful floor in a living room, family room or bedroom, though! I've been extremely happy with mine.

A: We put this on our stairs over 2 years ago and it does not show very many signs of wear. We don't wear shoes in the house but I am surprised at how well the floor has held up. We have not added any type of protective coating to the floor. It is not needed.

A: It is prefinished and needs nothing!

A: You need at least 28 cases for 700 square feet.

A: Wow what a question, there is 25.75sqft per case so you’ll need 28 w/o adding for waste

A: Total square footage divided my amount in each box plus overage. 700/25.75 = 27.1 or 28 boxes

A: 25 sq ft per box. 4 boxes per 100 sq ft.. So 28 boxes. I'd go 29 to be safe

A: My wife and I purchased the Strand Woven Mahogany on two separate occasions this past two years. We used the wood in our living and dining room area that flows together, in our master suite and in bedroom/office area. We both love the it. Our house in a concrete slab foundation, so when I put the wood down myself, I used the best bearer sold for the wood, I have had no problems with the wood. Where the wood meets the tile I used match transition trim and glued it down. Very happy with product.

A: Hi,
Above all, make sure you are equipped with safety equipment before starting any project.
Important procedures like checking moisture of concrete slab, checking for high or low spots to be addressed properly, make sure subfloor is clean and finally check manufacturing recommendations for either floating or glue down flooring. If it’s floating you must use a moisture block film along with an appropriate foam padding or if it’s gluedown make sure you use a polyurethane based adhesive to prevent new floors to cup after installation. Q:I am trying to determine what the thickness of the top layer of this flooring product is ? I am not referring to the 11 coats of protective finish intended to protect the top layer, but rather the top layer of Strand woven bamboo itself. I understand the total thickness is 3/8 of an inch thick and it has layers of oxide type protectors, but I want to know how thick the top bambo layer is?
Thank you

A: Top layer is not too bad, maybe 3-4 mm should be able to refinish once, and sand out the occasional gouge

Answer This Question
A: The recommended radiant heat system for an engineered bamboo is the Hydronic Radiant Heating System. This allows for even temperatures throughout the floor and a balanced humidity throughout the house. This prevents the floor from drying out too rapidly and causing splitting and face checking. You can contact the Home Decorator's customer service team at 800-986-3460 to request a written copy of the warranty which provides detailed terms of coverage and limitations.
