A:  I don't see why it would-- and it hasn't. We have 2 of them, also on hardwood floors. The rug doesn't have scratchy or sharp parts-- at least, not enough to damage hard wood. I mean, the thread and fabric aren't the softest in the world, but they won't rip skin off. I could see if you left it in one place on the wood floor and the sun constantly shone on it... how it would fade the wood around the rug. Otherwise, you're safe.

A:  of course not at all but don't drop buckets of water on it when coming ibn home occasionally remove rug if it is too wet and dry outside then return it in foyer etc.
