Q:The instructions indicate the inflow is on the left side and the outflow is on the right side, with the carbon filter the second step of the filtration process. Can the standard unit be reversed to allow the inflow from the right side, with the carbon filter swapped so that it remains the second step in the filtration process?

A:  On the top of my filter housing there are directional arrows going left to right, that looks like the way it's meant to be used. I took a picture of the top of my filter housing.

A:  I don't know why, but I would contact the company. The filter system works great!

A:  Received the following response from the manufacturer: By default, all Home Master® Whole House Water Filtration Systems are designed to flow from left to right. In the event that the flow direction is from right to left, you simply need to remove the bolts and the bracket, and spin the lids 180 degrees. In this case, you are correct, the Sediment filter - Multi Gradient Density 25/10/5/1 micron 20" x 4.5" would be on the right and the Carbon Filter - Radial Flow GAC 20 micron 20" x 4.5" would be on the left.

Q:Do you mount the system before or after the hot water heater?

        Answer This Question

        A:  Before.

        by|Jun 26, 2019

A:  Before, so that all water, cold and hot, is filtered. And I would be concerned about how the filters would work with hot water, you should check with the manufacturer if you were considering mounting after the water heater.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  The system should be installed on the MAIN water line BEFORE it DIVIDES into hot and cold, so that your whole house water supply is filtered. DO NOT put it on the hot water line after the hot water heater -- the hot water will cause system failure and rupture. You may put it on the hot water line BEFORE the hot water heater, but then only the hot water will be filtered.

Q:Will this system remove fluoride from the water?

                Answer This Question

A:  No it will not. The only way to remove fluoride is with reverse osmosis or activated alumina and activated alumina is consumed fairly quickly. Please consider our Home Master RO system for your drinking water where fluoride is most readily absorbed.

                  Answer This Question

A:  It depends on what's in your well water, and in what amounts. Please reply with a copy of your well water report. Please do NOT buy this equipment, or any other water treatment equipment, without first reviewing its capabilities against a well water report. You need to know what the job is before buying the tool.

A:  We live in the country on well water and have not had a problem with the system at all. It have been taking the metal taste out and the water isn’t discolored anymore. We have had the system about two going on three years.

A:  No need to change the entire system if your city switches from chlorine to chloramine. Simply change the included carbon filter Model # CFrfgac20-20BB for the catalytic carbon filter Model # CfKDF85GCC-20BB.
