A:  Hi Cynthia, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I am glad to address your question. The soaking depth is dependent on the overflow height on the bath. Any drain would yield in the same water depth due to the hole in the bath tub. Please call our team at 1-800-4KOHLER (M-F; 8am-5pm CST) for additional assistance. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

Q:My tub has huge orange peel. I would call it cottage cheese. Way more than what i have ever seen. Is this the new normal or is this a quality issue ?

            Answer This Question

A:  I went through 3 of these tubs and all of them had the orange peel look, I actually don’t mind it as it blends with the rustic look we were seeking. However inspect carefully for cracks. Use your phone camera and look at inside corners for micro cracks. Every tub ordered was cracked in glass coating.

A:  Hi DJeter, this is Sarah with Kohler Customer Service. I am glad to address your question. Due to the nature of enameled cast iron, there is a measure of rippling or waviness to vertical walls as gravity pulls the enamel down during melting in the furnace. Horizontal surfaces melt smooth. Please call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-4Kohler (1-800-456-4537) if you have additional questions. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Hi James, this is Lisa with Kohler Co. I am glad to answer your question. The weight of a tub is not always dependent on the overall size. The internal basin shape and size can determine how much material is used. If a tub is larger in size, it does not mean that there is more material that is used. Thank you for choosing Kohler.

A:  The surface if very subtly wavy but not at all rough or distracting and it doesn’t detract from the overall function or quality for the price.

A:  The tub is beautiful. There are no bumps or waves in my tub. I would highly recommend it. Please be advised it is very heavy, but that is expected from a cast iron tub.

A:  I ordered one and inspected it at the store before I had it delivered to my house. Unfortunately, it was quite bumpy on the apron, which is not what I wanted on display in my bathroom, so we returned it. I'm not sure what happened to Kohler, they used to produce pristine enamel tubs. We have one from the 60's that's still in great shape. :(
