A:  Two separate things. Why include a wall plate when you may want something other than plain plastic? I agree they could show just the switch. For most of the non Decora switches (regular toggle) the picture is just the switch

A:  Green Wire (ground) to green screw I think this is a simple 2 way on/off switch so the black and white wires can be installed on top or bottom. Make sure your connections are tight and reinstall in box. If you are upgrading from a click type switch then you will need a new face plate.

A:  I would say the Eatons from Lowes, but they're not exactly white and they don't match my white trim, doors, or faceplates, but hey... no logo

A:  Decora does not have a remote. It is a light switch only. Are you looking for Pico Remote Control for Caseta Wireless Dimmer - White which Home Depot stocks?

A:  One way I can think of would be to use a WiFi light switch that you can tell if it is on by looking at and controlling from an app on your phone. I.e. Lutron Caseta- not inexpensive though
