A:  I bought these to make a coat rack for my wife. She has about 15 coats and routinely puts two or three coats on each hook. I doubt you wear a winter coat that would break one of these unless it is lined with bullet proof kevlar.

A:  The problem would not be the hook, but rather what are you mounting it to. For example, the back of a solid wood door, you would be fine, but if you are putting it into dry wall, with no stud behind, then I wouldn't put anything heavy on it.
