Q:I am an artist, I use a basement with no windows as my studio. If I want lights that are bright and as similar to natural light as possible, can I use this?
Are these only for plants? Thanks

Answer This Question
A: These are quite bright and provide very natural looking light so I think they could be a great choice for lighting in a dark basement.
The shipping package is not very sturdy. So I suggest ship to store rather than home to get them without breakage. That has been successful for me. They credited me for the broken ones, it is just a hassle to go through the process and causes delays to your project.

A: Hi. Thanks for your answer. My question was more related to the effect on humans. I mean if they might be bad for your eyes, or headaches or whatever since they are made to use with plants originally. Thanks

A: This light fixture is designed to enhance seedling growth. It is only 28-watts and isvdesigned to be suspended over and close to a seed tray and raised as the seeds sprout and grow. I personally do not think this fixture would provide enough light to paint by.

Q:Can I use lower wattage bulbs in this lamp? For example, it comes with 28- watt bulbs, could I instead use 14 watt T5 bulbs?

Answer This Question
A: As long as they are T5 they should fit. I would research to make sure that the 14 watt bulb will give the optimum results that you are wanting.
I ordered these lights and am very pleased with how they work.

Q:How much heat does this lamp produce?

Answer This Question
A: Mine is in my unheated basement, out in the open. The basement temperature is 60. After it being on for twelve hours, a thermometer placed on top of it, at the ballast end, registers 83 (it's probably warmer than 83, since it feels warm to touch at that spot). The temperature at about 2" below the lamps is 70. If you're hoping for it to produce a lot of heat, it won't do it.

A: Based on the thermal test,we did not record the actual lamp, but did measure the diffuser directly over the lamp- 44°C (111°F). Thank you for your inquiry.

A: I don't have a heat-measurement instrument, but they don't produce much heat at all, and certainly none to speak of immediately below the light itself.
