A:  Hello. Lutron controls should not be directly connected to aluminum wiring. We would recommend using an aluminum to copper wire connector for installation. Q:Is this a "TRIAC" dimmer? The WAC Lighting track lighting with LED Lights I'm ordering requires a "TRIAC" dimmer, have no idea how to find that. Thanks!

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello! Yes, the CTCL-153P is a TRIAC-based dimmer switch. You can view the specification sheet for this dimmer switch here: https://assets.lutron.com/a/documents/369683.pdf Currently, there's no industry standard or regulation for manufacturing LEDs, which is why performance varies with dimming controls. That's why we extensively test a variety of LEDs from many different manufacturers and offer a mobile-friendly web tool to help you select bulbs that provide the best dimming performance with your Lutron dimmers. To access the tool, please visit lutron.com/ledfinder. If you still have questions or concerns, please give us a call at 1-844-LUTRON1. We're here 24/7, so you can reach out anytime, day or night.

Q:Can this switch be used to operate a ceiling fan ?
        by|Feb 26, 2022
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  The CTCL-153P is rated for 150W of compatible LEDs or 600W of incandescent/halogen lighting. Lutron does not recommend using this device to operate a ceiling fan. Instead, Lutron offers the CTFSQ-F for pull-chain style ceiling fan operation.

Q:Will this gimme work on LED Tube lights? If not, can you please recommend one?
            by|Mar 18, 2021

            Answer This Question

A:  The physical configuration of the light (LED tube) should not matter. This switch is rated for dimmable LED's. I would pay more attention to the specifications of the light you are considering as that product should be specified as either AC-dimmable (or not).

Q:Would this dimmer switch be considered a 0 - 10 Volt, Low Voltage Dimmer? And if not, do you have the same style dimmer that could be used where a 0 - 10 Volt, low voltage dimmer is recommended?

            Answer This Question

A:  The CTCL-153p is not a 0-10V dimmer. This dimmer is designed for line voltage applications and rated for 150W of compatible LED/CFL or 600W incandescent/halogen. Instead, Lutron would recommend the DVSTV for a 0-10V lighting fixture.

            by|Jul 27, 2020

A:  It would be best to contact the manufacture but I really don'r think it would work with a low voltage system.

              Answer This Question

A:  Lights only. It cannot be used for motors such as in a ceiling or bath fan. Call the manufacturer; they are very good at finding the right switch for your needs.

              by|Mar 3, 2019

A:  The CTCL-153P is only designed to control a lighting load and should not be used for a fan. This control is rated for up to 150W of dimmable LED/CFL or 600W of incandescent/halogen. Please reach out to our Support Team at support@Lutron.com or by phone at 1 (844) 588-7661 for further assistance with your inquiry.
