A:  No. Manual defrost. It does have a drain plug in the bottom so you can drain it after defrosting. The drain on the outside of the freezer can be hooked to a garden hose to drain it away from the freezer area.

A:  NO. You will have to manually defrost. But I doubt you'd have to do it more than twice a year. I suppose with lighter use you could do it once a year, but I'd recommend at least once every 6 months for the best performance.

A:  Amy exactly where is this setting that you are discussing. I only have the temp control inside the unit itself. I have a whole cow, beef completely frozen with a temp internal setting of 4 in less than 24hours.

A:  amy365, The only temperature settings on this chest freezer are the temp controls. 4 is the standard setting and will keep the temperature around 0 degrees, but may vary. The 1 setting is the coldest and the 7 is the warmest of the cold settings. The freezer should be plugged in for several hours before placing food in it. If food is placed in before the appliance has ran for awhile or if large amounts of food are placed in the freezer at one time, it might take longer to reach the optimal temperature for the food.
