A:  It does not lock into place. Not sure you could jump the chain, but if they want to cut the chain it is exposed.

This slide gate opener features an auto close setting that determines how long the gate will remain opened before it automatically closes. The auto close setting can be adjusted from 3 to 120 seconds, the gate will not open unless it is activated by a remote, or keypad.
