Running it with the ozone setting and UV-C germicdal bulb throughout the day or week for periods of time from 30 minutes to two hours is recommended for areas which need additional cleaning (surfaces, airborne pollutants). A:  I cleaned the filter recently and there was no evidence of dust accumulation . This filter sits on top of an entertainment center approximately 6 feet from the floor. I can not answer your question with any certainty since on the two occasions that I opened it for routine maintenance, I found no dust on the primary filter. It seems odd because my old filtration system would be clogged up with dust after two or three weeks of continued use.

A:  Great question Spoon! The Mountainaire by SUNHEAT is built to be a full home air purifier which can run in your home 100% of the time keeping your home free of smelly orders. The unit works two different ways, unlike most others on the market. First, the unit will "filter" all air which passes through the unit's lifetime washable pre-filter, washable HEPA filter, carbon filter and past the Ultra-violet germicidal light. What this means, is any air going through the unit will be filtered. We reocmend running the MA4000 on this setting in your home 24/7. The second way to clean the air is to actually produce super charged oxygen, or "ozone", which is O3 and is also produced by mother nature to clean our environment. That clean, fresh smell is the same as what you smell after a thunderstorm. While you can set the Mountainaire to run to produce the super charged oxygen all the time, the unit does come with pre-set timers for 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. This setting will get rid of mold and mildew, clean smelly garments when put in a closet, clean mattresses when put under a sheet to run, clean the smell of raw onions off hands or in a room which was cooked in, clean out air ducts by running your furnace on "fan only" and putting the MA4000 by the cold air intake, kill e-coli, clear out smoke odors and more. It is recommended to let your nose be the judge of how long to run this setting and while it is not recommended to set the Ozone setting to high, in a closed-in quarters with no other air mixing in, for a long period of time, most everyone tells us they enjoy the fresh smell. A:  My understanding after reading inside information is NO, OZONE & PURIFICATION settings may only be ran when home is evacuated. / WE have TWO ADULT CATS and I'll only run that Ozone setting when I'm going to take them BOTH out for a few hours. / PS: I've only had unit 3 weeks; have run it each day on level 3, 1600 (medium) & it's done a GREAT JOB eliminating tobacco smoke and odor from main house. :) / Hope this helps!

A:  The manufacturer states that no humans or pets should be present while utilizing the ozone function. The unit displays this warning while the ozone is in use. Although the ultraviolet option as well as the rest of this units functions can be operated with occupants present.
