A:  Yes it will, just made sure that the sensor is pointed in the right direction to pick up any movement before that person or persons approach the steps. I myself as satisfied with the unit and would purchase it again

A:  If you are mounting the lights on a soffit you need to make sure there is enough room to slide the light on and off the bracket. You also want the motion detector (grey globe) facing out towards the stairs. With it mounted upside down it can reduce the motion detection to about 10-15 feet instead of the 30 feet. It will also not be able to detect motion directly under the unit. Our MB391 UltraBright Spotlight (450 lumens) may work better for this application because you can tilt the head which has the motion sensor on it. Thanks!

A:  Yes it will light up the area. You just need to have motion sensor aimed right. Also remeber it is battery operated. I put mine on a shed and it has been a year and I have not had to replace batteries. Worth the cost.

A:  Haven't mounted mine that high, but given the sensitivity of the detectors, I would assume they would pick up any motion and light up.

A:  Yes, the motion detector has a wide detection range. However, remember this is a battery operated unit so be sure to place it where you can easily replace the batteries when need be. Just sayin.

A:  Hi! No, the auto shut off is not adjustable on the unit. If there is continuous motion the light will remain on. When the motion stops or moves out of range the light will turn off after 10 seconds. As soon as the motion starts or comes within range the light will turn back on immediately. Thanks!

A:  Don't think the timing of the light can be adjusted. In my experience, it seems to stay on as long as activity continues. Light comes back on quickly once it senses motion again.

A:  Although I always try to go with the best batteries, e.g. Duracell I can't always afford them. These are so easy to change and since it's only motion activated it doesn't get much use. However this is the first winter they're in use so wil see what spring brings. I think Rayovac would be a decent second choice.

A:  Duracell's the best--pack of four for $8.72 plus tax at Home Depot (the best place to buy batteries, by the way). Good for over eight hundred activations which, if you only come or go at night 200 times a year should last you about four years. And, that's the other thing I liked about this make and model--with the press tab to disengage the device from the mount, when necessary the batteries are very easy to change. I only hope Mr. Beams keeps making this model. It's the best.

A:  Good name brand alkaline batteries

A:  The anchor plate is screwed into the part of the house/garage that you want to locate the unit. Then the body of the unit slides onto the anchor plate until it clicks. To remove it to replace the batteries, just press down on the clip and slide the unit off.
