A:  I don’t think so, unless you were certain there would be no torque on the rail or a way of bracing the top of the rail. They are 3 1/2” deep, so you would only be holding a little over 60% of that 2x6. Wouldn’t recommend.

A:  It wouldn't be too difficult if you had a Dremel with the right attachment. But, there are quite a few other products in this same line, and if I am envisioning it correctly what you are trying to.do....there are probably better items with no modification needed. When we used ours, we found the ozco building products website to have better information to help us decide which pieces we exactly needed.

A:  I don't think that difficult. Using a pair of vise grips you could slowly work that flap back and forth until the bend finally fails and breaks free. I'd start slowly with small motions to ensure you are bending along the fold line - and not create a new bend.

A:  You could try bending the lower bracket flap down to 45 degrees. Then cut your 2x4 at 45 degrees to match. Might work. Just don't over work the bending of the metal as it could stress and break. Good luck.

A:  No they are painted black

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  No, these are not galvanized. But they are powder coated - which, it is my understanding will hold up just fine in exposed weather as long as the powder coating is not damaged. If the metal underneath the powder coating is exposed, it will rust.

A:  No, those will only fit dimension lumber, and not a full 2"x4"

                                by|May 5, 2023

A:  Unfortunately, no. I used rough sawn cedar 2x4s ( actual dimensions) but had to sand down the sides to fit in the saddle. Still, it was worth the effort as they look great.

                                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  I am not sure what you mean by rough sawn. We used common 2x4 lumber: so the actual dimensions are not 2x4 as you mention in your question. The saddles are made to use with common 2x4 lumber . We also painted that lumber prior to installing the lumber in the saddles. A few of those painted with decking paint *really thick paint, needed a nudge to get seated. We found these a great accent to our overall look. I would recommend these to others. Solid product.
