Q:What is difference between this model and the "no caulk" model 420992, other than price? Thanks
    by|Jan 27, 2024

    Answer This Question

A:  This is a solvent weld drain. Unlike the no caulk drains that connect to the plumbing with mechanical compression, this connects to the plumbing by solvent welding it to the plumbing system.

Q:The shower pan/surround I've purchased specifically says not to use plumbers putty. What else should I use? I see that several people have stated that it should be OK, but I don't want to ruin my new shower pan.

A:  We would recommend using what the pan manufacture recommends for their product. Putty or 100% silicone can be used with our drains.

A:  I did not use plumbers putty. The rubber seal that is included with the drain worked perfectly. I just made sure that drain was tightened securely. It has been in constant use for almost 2 years now with zero issues. Hope this helps!

A:  Use the putty, I use it on all installations. Never had a problem yet, and the most important thing is, I’ve never had a leak.

A:  My plumber installed it but I believe he didn’t use anything. It’s got a nice rubber gasket so you don’t need any glue

A:  You will have to determine the final height in the field. Varying site conditions and shower bases makes it impossible for us to give an exact height.

                          Answer This Question

A:  No this is a PVC drain and would require a PVC cement to solvent weld to PVC pipe. If ABS fitting and pipe a ABS cement should be used. If transitioning between ABS and PVC the Transition Green cement should be used.
