Q:Can I use this to solder copper to brass zone valve? The valve says "do not use silver solder because of the high melting temperature required"

Answer This Question
A: It can be used to solder brass to copper. That being said if your valve manufacturer has a specific recommendation we would advise using what they recommend for their product.
by|Aug 15, 2022
A: Silver solder does indeed require a higher temperature to melt. A MAPP gas torch works whereas a propane torch is marginal. The manufacturer of your brass zone valve may have included the warning because of concerns of potential damage to internal parts of the valve from the higher heat level. It is advisable to heed the warning.
