A: Sparks aren't really a concern because of the type fuel that is being used. Pellets dont have any contaminates or heavy mass so that's not an issue. The Qflame puts out a radiant heat so the wind carrying that away would reduce the amount of heat you would feel consistently. That's just like any type open fire though.

A: This heater heats up very quickly. After being lit and with the bottom air damper wide open, it will take about 10-15 minutes to get big flame and the temp comes to about 400F; about 20 minutes, the surface of the heater will be about 600-650F.
