Answer This Question
A: QUIKRETE® Finish Coat Stucco can be used as a stand-alone product. Placement thickness should be limited, and still installed accordance with ASTM C926 and local governing building codes. Apply a minimum 1/8" (3.2 mm) thickness of Finish Coat Stucco by spray or trowel and smooth with a darby. Surface textures can be achieved with a brush or trowel. Any desired texture or finish must be achieved while the mix is still plastic and workable. Avoid overlapping fresh stucco over previously dried areas as this will result in a lack of color uniformity.

Q:Can I apply this over old uneven cinder block to smooth out the wall

Answer This Question
A: QUIKRETE® Finish Coat Stucco is not ideal for leveling coats, as it is applied at 1/8” in thickness per layer. For thicker parging applications, we recommend instead QUIKRETE® Parging Mix or QUIKRETE® Mason Mix, which are more suitable for thicker placement.

Answer This Question
A: QUIKRETE® Finish Coat Stucco is not suggested for showers. QUIKRETE® Sand/Topping Mix (No.1103), in conjunction with QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier (No.8610) replacing half of the required water content, is the combination of products recommended for a shower pan or a mortar bed for shower base or bathtub installation. ANSI 108.1 provides application and material requirements for shower pans and bathtubs. It is critical that the subfloor / structure underneath be rigid. Bathtubs require secure and adequate support because of the combined weight of the tub, person, and water. Please consult and follow local building /plumbing code requirements.

A: I am not an expert in this field but personally i would not use this inside the bathroom. Outside it holds up pretty well but there is some degrading happening after one year. The fresh air and sunlight keeps it from retaining any moisture, but inside a trapped, humid environment may not be the best place to use this product. I would ask about putting some kind of sealant on it for such a use or application.

Q:Can I use half of the bag or I have to use the whole bag to get the right mix.?
by|May 22, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: QUIKRETE® Finish Coat Stucco can be used in partial bags, as long as the required water content is scaled down appropriately. If color-matching is an issue, we would not recommend using partial bags. When making repairs, getting a good color match can be difficult – we always recommend trialing the repair material in a small, inconspicuous area first and waiting 24 hours to ensure that the appearance, including color, is acceptable.
