A:  Frugal, thank you for your interest in the RYOBI ONE+ 18V 12 in. Cordless Battery String Trimmer. I am sorry, This is not a trimmer edger. This is a string trimmer. It is not designed for use as an edger. You should always keep the shield on the product. The brushless and non-brushless versions of the string trimmer are both designed with different looks but the same functionality to the shield. Q:TO RYOBI: How to "re-design" the "edger-trimmer" concept: 1. Realize that 0.65 string doesn't cut much...really need .80 and higher. 2. The string gets under the head-so re-design the Ryobi Pivoting 2 in 1 Head to accept 0.80 string at least. 3. All String Trimmers should be able to convert to edgers-like the one with the handle button. 4. Have a separate variable speed button on all variable speed type units.-Like with the P2008. 5. Move the "grass deflector" to the stem of the tool just like with the "brushless" tool. It will be further from the "vibration" below and less likely to break off.-And still allow for ventilation below. 6. Explain why some new tools have a 30 day v. a 90 day returnable policy. 7. Why did Ryobi stop making the hybrid model--curious.... Do not have time to call an 800 number on this.....just jot your answer here and in a email if you can....Thanks!
