A:  we are leaving them in our gutters in Montana

A:  They do not need to be removed.

A:  Definitely. The idea is that the gutters won't fill with snow and ice and that the black color will absorb heat from the sun and melt the snow faster. In reality, I don't think the black helped melt the snow any faster. After a couple of years, the foam got clogged with a layer of rotted leaves and debris.

A:  Not that I have been able to find.

A:  You got the original product. Mine came in a plain brown box too. Unfortunately my gutters were too large for the 5 inch guards, but my neighbor has had his for 2 years and he is extremely pleased with them.

A:  Mine also came in a plain brown box - better than paying for fancy packaging!

A:  So far, we've had only a few inches of snow and there was no problem at all

A:  As explained in the description, there are eight sections, each four feet long, for a total of 32 feet.

A:  It was 48 feet total, 8 separate pieces, 4 feet each. You sort of smoosh them together at the ends, making them seem to overlap by about 1/4 inch. They don't really "overlap", but it closes any gaps. Super easy!

A:  They were too small for my gutters too. I returned them to my local store with no problems.

A:  Short of removing it by hand, I have no idea. I would contact the manufacturer and see what they suggest. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
