A:  ROBERTS MAX GRIP Vinyl Floor Installation Tape gives you maximum holding power under the flooring surface. It features an acrylic adhesive especially designed for installing vinyl sheet flooring over concrete and plywood surfaces. It can be used over old vinyl sheet. However, the old vinyl sheet is clean and firmly attached (glued down) This tape is considered a permanent tape and not recommended for use over finished substrates.

Q:Can this product be used on a product that's rigid with attached pad?

            Answer This Question

A:  I used it to try and attach a light wooden valance to the frame of a set of hanging blinds being used as a doorway. It was successful for several months but eventually the weight of the wooden valance was too much and it pulled away. I think it would work all right on the floor.

            by|Aug 20, 2020

A:  Thank you for considering Max grip tape for your project. The tape has an acrylic adhesive specifically designed for vinyl sheet flooring and is also excellent for wall base and vinyl trim. Rigid core with attached pad typically requires a click loc floating application. For specific installation of Rigid Core Installation, contact the manufacturer.

Q:I want to use vinyl planks on a painted drywall. Will this tape hold up?

              Answer This Question

A:  I used this tape to hold down vinyl flooring to my garage door vinyl threshold. It has a high adhesion and worked very well. I don’t know how it will work in a vertical application but depending on the type of wall paint and the weight of the vinyl planks, it could work well. BTW I used construction adhesive to attach the vinyl threshold to the concrete floor of the garage. It worked well also.

A:  In a similar situation (using the tape to hold a light-weight wooden valance across the top of a set of hanging blinds) the valance pulled away after a few months. I don't think it's a good solution for wall use with planks.

              Answer This Question

A:  Attach the tape to the porous side (non shiney) of the underlaynent for the best performance.

              by|Jul 2, 2020

A:  This is two-sided tape, which means it has adhesive on both sides; one side for the linoleum and one side for the floor, and it doesn't matter which sticky side you use for the linoleum.

                      Answer This Question

A:  The tape stays soft and pliable, so you should be able to scrape or just roll it up/off under a finger. It may leave a slight greasy or gooey area, but that will likely come off with soap and water?

A:  I pulled ours up after two years on hardwood floors. Most of it came right up in long pieces. If you need, a single edged razor blade will take off whatever doesn’t pull up. If there is any residue, Goo Gone cleans it up easily.
