A:  Good morning, When one of the spikes came out, those orange spikes, I did call an exterminator for termites. I told them about the Spectracide termite killer and I was told that the orange spikes comes out because there are bugs underneath the soil that eats the Spectracide. It does not necessarily mean that I have a terminate. The exterminator went around the house and check for any signs of terminates. Luckily, I don't. I still use the Spectracide as a precaution and bug killer during summer months, mostly.

A:  I think you should ask the manufacturer about this. I've used this for a couple of years around my foundation and I've noticed a decline in termites, and other pests, but I just can't speak to this.

A:  You need to be careful if your pets like to dig.  The bait stakes can be toxic to animals so I would cordon off the area where these are placed in the ground.  A small fence and keeping a close eye on the affected area should do it.

A:  We didn’t have any problems with our animals. They go into the ground. I didn’t think they worked, but then it turns out we had cuckoo bees, which I had never heard of before.

A:  The chemical is underground in a plastic tube. The pets will not have direct exposure to the chemical… unless they dig it up and chew on it.

A:  You should be ok the termite stakes contain the poison unless you put them under water.  Then I am not sure the results. The termites eat the contents of the stakes and the orange part comes up to tell you to replace the stake. As long as you place them correctly you shouldn’t have a problem.
