A: Hi,
The use of an antioxidant on the load centers main lugs is not required. The lugs are UL listed for use with copper or aluminum conductors without the use of any antioxidation supplement. The use of an antioxidant is not prohibited, but assure that the brand used is a NON-PETROLEUM based product. If a petroleum based product is used, and comes in contact with the insulating base, it can degrade the insulating base material.

No. Each manufacturer has its own UL listings for their specific products based on their specific product line and their specific combination of products. This is true for Square D as well, UL listings may be voided, and the Warranty as well.

Q:I'm removing a 50a double pole to replace with a 30a d.p. The existing wire size is #6 that easily fits on the 50a lug which has a big round opening, but the new 30a lug opening is smaller. Can I still use the #6 wire to connect to the new 30a lug?
