Q:What is the self life? ( How long it can be stored )

A: Hi Peter, Titebond Original has an official shelf life of 2 years, but with good storage conditions, above freezing but below 75F, it can remain useful for up to 10 years. If there is concern with the age of the glue, testing on a few blocks of scrap wood (bond and clamp overnight) and breaking apart with a hammer should give wood failure in the glued joint.

A: Typically heat up to 200°F will soften a joint enough to pull it apart, but this will depend on the type of joint. Mortise and Tenon joints along with dovetail joints can be difficult to separate even without glue.
Titebond Original can also be softened with a mixture of acetone/water/vinegar.
by|Sep 3, 2019
A: Yes, use a mixture of acetone, vinegar and water to soften the adhesive. Adding a little heat/steam will also allow the joints to be pulled apart easier. Remove any old glue from the surfaces before re-gluing

Answer This Question
A: Hi James, Titebond Original is a wood glue and is designed to bond wood to wood. Depending on the type of fiberglass you mention above, it may work but without more detail I would have to tell you to experiment with a small sample to see if bond strength is high enough for your application.

Q:I want to repair a hairline crack in a yellow cedar native-carved wood mask (in the chin area of the white Grouse Mask). This mask was carved in 1998. The repair will be to the inside back, not the front.
Also, I have a 6' red cedar totem that is showing minor splits all around. It was carved in 1995.
What about mixing fine sawdust to create a similar color?

Answer This Question
A: It does not dry clear.
Unless the sawdust is a dark / strong color, it will not change the color much. for that you need to use a powder dye.
Hope this helps.

Q:Would this glue work on concrete
by|Nov 24, 2015

Answer This Question
A: Yes, depending what you mean by "work". You can certainly add it as an additive to concrete, being PVA glue it will only make it extremely hard to break it afterwards. Thermal expansion would be different than any base without PVA fortifier. Keep in mind that grinding the concrete after curing with this would be very hard.
