Q:I want to attach a thin 24" x 48" sheet of corkboard material (under 1/8" thick) to plywood. Is Titebond III appropriate for this application, and should I spread the adhesive on both the cork and the plywood or just to one material?
by|Sep 13, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Some cork material can be waxy and difficult to bond. Test for bond ability by adding a drop water to the side of the sheet you will be bonding to the plywood. If the water soaks in after 2 minutes, it is OK to bond with Titebond III. Be sure that you use some sort of pressure to keep the cork sheet in contact with the plywood while the glue dries. It is not necessary to apply glue to both sides but it is OK to do so. If the water does not absorb into the cork, use Titebond WeatherMaster Sealant to bond the two substrates together as it is better at bonding waxy surfaces.

Q:What's the difference between tight Bond two and tight Bond 3
    by|Sep 12, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Titebond III will pass a boiling water test whereas Titebond II will not. Titebond II sets fast and has a total working time of 10-15 minutes. Titebond III sets a bit slower and has a total working time of 20-25 minutes. Both can be used for outdoor projects but Titebond III would be recommended for cutting boards due to the ability to withstand being put in the dishwasher.

Q:Can this be used as mulch/pea gravel glue? If so, at what dilution ratio should I use?
      by|Sep 11, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Yes, Titebond II Premium Wood Glue can be used as a mulch/pea gravel glue. Note, some slight yellowing may be noted in some applications. Product can be diluted with water, no more than 50%. Less water will give better adhesion.

This Wood Glue is NOT "Water Resistant"
I paid extra for the "premium" wood glue because it states "Water Resistant" & "Interior/Exterior" on the label. However, the first time it got just a little wet it bled down the leg of the log bench I made. The most frustrating part is I didn't really need the wood glue I was just adding it for extra strength, (the legs were already strong enough with the lag bolts). I have always used "Elm*rs" and never had a problem. Thanks for ruining my project Titebond II "Premium" Wood Glue.

            Pea Gravel Glue
I used this to glue down pea gravel on a sloped gate entrance and in between pavers. I was going to buy mulch glue but a reviewer had mentioned it smelled just like wood glue. Wood glue was 1/4 the price! I mixed it with two parts water, shook very well and sprayed in a garden sprayer. Waited an hour and sprayed again. It worked better than I expended.

              Works great
I used this to repair broken legs on an antique desk. The glue was the only means of attaching the legs. There were no pegs or screws or anything else to hold the legs in place. I clamped the legs in place with the glue and kept them clamped for 24 hours. The legs seem to be very secure. Excess glue was easily removed with damp cloth.

              The best yellow glue
Titebond yellow glue is a great product for wood joints. I use for end grain cutting boards as well as many other items. When applied properly the joint is stronger than than the wood being joined.

              Works as expected...good value
I have been using this product for years. A small bottle will go a long way, making this a good value. It's easy to use and will hold your wood pieces together like cement.

                Chanh
This glue is good but the plastic bottle is not. I used it few times then stopped for few months. When I used again last time the glue dried at the location to pull up for open. I used plier to pull and a whole nozzle broke. I still have 80% of unused glue.
