Q:My garage has roll roofing (low pitch). Do I need special flashing if I get a curb mounted skylight?

A:  For a low sloped roof with rolled roofing, a curb mounted skylight will be needed. You will not need the traditional flashing kit, but use the rolled roofing material as your flashing. Please reach out to VELUX Technical Services for additional details @ 1-800-888-3589.

    Q:My framed plexi-glass sky light has an exterior measurement of 86.25" x 27"...can Velux accommodate that large an opening? Actually my plex-glass sky light is hinged and acts as an access door to the roof. This is going to be hard to replace isn't it?

    A:  Hi Scott. VELUX can manufacture a custom sized acrylic dome to those measurements, but it would be a fixed unit and not an operable skylight.

        A:  Hi Coco. Each flashing kit is model, size, and age specific. You will need to locate your VELUX skylight serial number to determine the proper flashing kit. This number can be found on a small metal tag, which is typically on the interior frame of the skylight or within the ventilation flap. Once you have this information, please contact us at 1-800-888-3589 and we will be happy to help you determine which flashing kit to purchase from your local Home Depot store.

            A:  VELUX Skylights, flashing systems and accessories are proprietary to VELUX and will not fit other brands of skylights.

              A:  I'm guessing it will depend on the width of the skylight -- compared to the width of a Velux. Look at the picture.

                A:   Short answer is no. But you can do anything you want. This flashing kit is primarily for the velux, as the actual skylight it goes to has an over fit to the up bent part of the flashing.

                    A:  VELUX Low-Profile Flashing for Curb Mount Skylights (model ECL) cannot be used for metal roof application. In this case, your installer will need to fabricate the flashing on site. VELUX does not offer a metal roof flashing kit for curb mounted skylights.

                        Q:i need a flashing kit for a Velux roof window  VSC 08.  the flashing kit the manufacturer recommended is EDL C12. i do not see it in your inventory. how do i get this  model flashing kit?

                        A:  The EDL C12 would be the proper flashing kit for the VS C08. If this item is not currently available online, please visit your local Home Depot and speak with a Millwork Associate to request a special order for this kit. They will be happy to assist you with ordering this flashing kit.
