Q:Can this pot handle areca palms of something similar?

Answer This Question
A: The Windsor Long Planter would be suitable for an Areca Palm. These plants are quite sensitive to temperature changes, water/humidity and salt buildup. They may fare better in an indoor environment and if you bring the Windsor Long indoors, remember that it is not a sealed planter and excess water will flow through.
This planter is covered by our 20 year warranty and you will never have to paint it or stain it.

A: We bought four of these three years ago, lined them with burlap and filled with potting soil. Works just fine.

A: We did plant directly into it but there are openings in the bottom so I had to layer gravel for several inches before adding potting soil. It worked great until I tried moving them. When I moved them a lot of the gravel and dirt fell out and 2 of the 4 we bought fell apart. They are really nice to look at but I'd recommend a better way to plant that I used because mine didn't work well. If you have a better solution please share.

A: I am not sure, but I could move it easily once assembled. I am using a pair of them on my front porch. They hold ample soil and the plants are flourishing. Hope this helps

Answer This Question
A: I think that would be complicated. All the pieces are designed to fit together with the exact original measurements.
I am not saying that it couldn't be done, only that it might be more trouble than it's worth. I'd look for one closer
to the measurements that you need.
