Q:How well does it work in tubs and how fast if the tub is very overly clogged

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi, SammRich - Kleer Drain is designed for use in tubs, lav sinks, and kitchen sinks. It's usually very effective. However, there are some clogs that are so heavily embedded and/or are far into the plumbing system that it might not work. At around $30, it's a good tool to try before making an expensive plumber call.

A:  I used to work in an apartment building and personally saw this blow hardened bacon fat out of a sink trap on the first try. Well worth the money.

A:  Hi, Kelly - Kleer Drain works via quick release of compressed air and may work on most clogs. However, depending on the severity of the clog, how deep it is in the plumbing system, and other factors, it may not work all the time. It is, however, a wonderful somewhat inexpensive tool to try prior to making an expensive plumber call.

Q:Can you use this on a clogged garage disposal?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi, alw1988 - Theoretically, yes you can use it on a disposer. However, practically speaking, it probably won't do much good. Disposers are made with a spinning turntable that pushes food waste against a grind ring on the outer surface of the housing. The turntable has some holes for water drainage but, for the most part, it would block most of the air burst from Kleer Drain. We suggest you physically take apart the pipes from the disposer's waste outlet to where it intersects with the P-trap or to the other side of a 2-compartment sink. If necessary, clean out those pipes manually and reassemble. From there, use Kleer Drain on the 2nd compartment (non-disposer side) of the sink to dislodge any downstream clogs. Be sure to cover the sink hole where the disposer is as well as the air gap assembly (if you have that). Hope this helps.

A:  I would not. Disconnect the drain pipe from the disposal and clear from there by hand or bottle brush.

A:  It’s a dime sized thin plastic film that is pushed through the drain using the force of the C02. I’ve used this type for years and they work really well without damaging your pipes.

A:  Seems to assist with the blast of CO2 directing the blow narrowing it for more force. It just works.

A:  Based on your question, I believe that you are referring to the plunger that fits on the end of the tube portion of the unit.

A:  Hi - It is called a "Power Disc" which helps direct an airburst from the Kleer Drain unit into the clogged area. They are available with the replacement cartridges found on homedepot.com. Here's the link. https://www.homedepot.com/p/VPC-Kleer-Drain-Replacement-Cartridges-KD101/203002012

A:  I do not suggest using this or any CO2 pressure product on any plumbing, because it is likely to cause more problems than help. I only used it on a air conditioning condensate line that had no fittings that could rupture.

A:  RVs generally have a closed plumbing system with fresh water, gray water, and black water holding tanks. Further, some of the pipe used may be a thin wall PVC or ABS and is not meant for pressure applications. Given that Kleer Drain provides a sudden burst of pressure that could potentially damage the system, we would not recommend its use for an RV.
