A:  This specific item is the Professional S Series Grill with a Propane Gas Insert. The Propane Gas Insert can not be converted to a Natural Gas Insert. If you are looking for Natural Gas, the best route is to Purchase the Professional S Series Grill and the Natural Gas Insert separately. A:  No you can not cook with both. To use propane you must put the insert in and no charcoal can be in the grill
