Q:My timer will not run on auto. Just auto on or auto off?
by|Nov 24, 2022

Answer This Question

A:  I have several of these and was just as confused as this person at first. When you have it set to "Auto" either the "On" or "Off" must also be chosen. In other words if you want to have it "Off" at the moment and for it to turn "On" at the set time, then choose "Auto Off", just the same if you want it "On" at the moment but want it to go "Off" at the programmed time then you should have it set to "Auto On". I use all my timers for holidays but often want them On during the day of that holiday, but still want them to go at the programmed time. If I would put it to On without the Auto also on, it wouldn't go off until I went out and did that manually. Hope that clears it up.

A:  Yes. I have used it successfully for a couple of years.

A:  I have mine mounted in the garage so I'm afraid I can't be of much help. It is damp in there but it's not outside.

      by|May 17, 2021

A:  They are weather proof. It has a hinged plastic cover over the face where the controls are located with the receptacles being on the underside. For the past 4 years I have used two of these at Christamas time. They mount to an exterior brick wall, are exposed to all the elements and have worked without fail.

A:  I have it outside for my for my pool timer

          by|May 20, 2021

A:  Mine is used to control on/off of my pool. It is under the deck next to the outdoor power socket. Stays mostly dry but rain seeps through. Both are well insulated and I have not had any problems.

A:  I used mine to power a fountain outside and it worked great for me. Never missed a beat. I can't speak for the winter as I took the fountain down in the winter. Just be sure to mount it vertically so water doesn't get in the plug-ins.

A:  Yes as long as it is an outdoor timer. I run a sump pump with mine and it works beautifully

            by|Jul 10, 2020

A:  It will work, but these have proven unreliable over time. I've had 3 so far, and none of them has lasted more than 3 years. The last one I bought only lasted a year, so I stopped buying them.

              by|Jul 10, 2020

A:  Use mine for the pool. 2 HP two phase.

              by|May 18, 2021

A:  I don't know for sure. I have this attached to an attic exhaust that draws only 1 amp, and run it 20 hours per day w/o any problem. You might try it and see if it gets warm when the pool pump is running, and if so, then no good. Or look for a heavier duty timer.

              by|Jul 11, 2020

A:  I bought this timer for the exact same reason. I've used it on my pool pump for a few years now with no issues.

Q:I own an outdoor Christmas lighting company and been looking for a good backup battery timer for years. I might have 400 timers out there every season. I can't afford callbacks because of bad timers. So this timers settings works with no power but after you are finished with the timer it must be plugged in year around?

                Answer This Question

A:  Yes- I don't think it will hold programming for a whole year. If it loses the programming because the battery died, it may work again when you plug it in but I wouldn't trust a battery backup timer unplugged for a whole year-can't be good for the battery. I only have 3 that I use on fountains that I take down in the winter. I just plug them into a gang unit & leave them on all winter in the garage. I've used them for 3 seasons now & as soon as I set up the fountain in the spring, they work perfectly. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but the "backup" is only for the on/off sequences that are programmed. If the power goes out the lights do as well-it's just that when the power comes back on the program is still intact. Not sure if that helps- hope so.

A:  I don't know what you are saying. It gets plugged in

                by|Aug 31, 2019

A:  It does not work without power. It is a timed outlet switch. The power to the 2 outlets on the bottom is a feed through.

A:  The timer is digital, programmable so the options are limitless. Between 1m-24hrs, 1-7 days a week.

A:  one minute.. all digital settings.. simple 24 total possible on/off times each day.

                    A:  1 minute. 20 presets and a countdown function

                    by|Jul 25, 2019

A:  Don't take this is gospel, but I have set it for as little as 1 minute. It may be able to go shorter but I don't think so. This is a good (and easy to use/program) timer.

A:  Yes, you have to make sure your pump is not exceeding 12A @ 120V.

A:  The Woods timer has settings to enable it to turn on and off automatically. I've used it to turn Christmas lights on and off during that season, and to operate my pool filter motor during the summer. It can be programmed to perform multiple on-off cycles per day. However, you do not specify the capabilities of your pump remote control, or of the pump motor itself. If possible, I would recommend leaving the pump in its "always on" setting and using the Woods timer for turning it on and off.

A:  I use it to operate two different 1/4 HP water pumps and according to the instructions it is able to handle pumps of much bigger amperage. check the amperage of your pump(s) against the specs of this timer to be sure.

A:  You would have to set the timer to come on while the pump is also remotely turned on. You could set the timer to run from 10am to 10pm daily for example, and a float activated sump pump would run only during those hours and only when activated by the float. If this is your situation, which you don't give enough details about, your sump could overflow all night long ;-(

A:  Why would you want to use the remote? The timer switches on and off on Auto. The remote probably interferes with the timer setting. I would get rid of the remote and use just the timer for on and off.
