Q:I'm elderly and don't own a saw and miter box to cut this to the correct lengths. Will my local HD (Wages Drive, Decatur, GA) do this for me? Thanks!

Answer This Question
A: Best to contact store. The local Home Depot I ship at has a hand saw and mobile bench for customers to use. Or- purchase a Stanley Miter Box with Saw, about $10, which is what I cut this same quarter round trim with and had very good results.

A: Of course it can be glued, why couldn't it be? But, you could just drive a nail down threw the molding into the floor and run some caulk between the metal strip and the molding if there is any gap.

A: I used a finish nailer with 2" nails to put my trim to the baseboards. They look nice and stay in place.

A: Did you try laying it flat, as if it were up against the wall? Do not tilt the saw, rather turn it on the bottom so the blade is cutting straight down and is turned at a 45 degree angle. I had the same issue.

A: One edge is thicker than the other. Care must be taken so that the same side lays against the same surface.

A: Use an angle gauge to get the right angle and insure you cut the right sides of the quarter round on both ends. I have goofed up
several times because I didn't pay attention to detail.

A: Hello jak6965,
I suggest you take a sample of your trim to the paint department of your local Home Depot. There you will find a chart with actual pieces of pine and oak with different colors of stain that you can use to find the closes match. If you find the right color tone but it is not dark enough it may be the case that you will just need to put another coat of stain. Work with a sample piece of raw wood to test how many coats you may need to get a satisfactory result.
Thanks for your inquiry.
