I bought 7 - 2”x 4” x 4ft boards. Got home and they were all off a few inches in length???

These boards are advertised as a nominal dimension of 2 in x 4 in x 4 ft but do have an actual dimension of 1.5 in x 3.5 in x 4 ft, as described in the product details. Additionally, as lumber dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length as this is a natural occurrence of wood. If your project calls for precise measurements, be sure to check your lumber before purchasing. I purchased this piece of lumber because of it's density. I needed a piece of lumber that I didn't have to cut waste from and that could take some beating if anyone tried to manhandled it. My project is complete and I have a ton of confidence this piece of Yellow Pine will be a deterrent.

Wood had a lot of moisture in it, more than is typical. It is going to take a long time to dry out.

Wet, twisted and ugly
Problem 1, no one could tell me where to find these. Thanks to several helpful employees, we found a pallet with this lumber on it in the fencing aisle.
Problem 2: The pallet was up on the third level storage space. Thank you to more helpful employees for getting a forklift and operator to take it down.
Problem 3: The lumber was wet, bowed and stained. Outside edges weren't good and most of it was dark with what may have been mold. Overall, not exactly prime lumber.

It's a good thing that they sell 4 ft lengths because i waited for an hour to get a 16 ft long 2x4 cut into 4 ft lengths and the person was unavailable.
