Our contractor installed this grab bar in our new Mustee Durawall shower stall. He put it on the wall opposite of the shower head at an angle. Before putting up the walls of the shower, we discussed the exact location for the grab bar and he put the extra wood stud in place behind the wall. This grab bar is perfect for this application. Very pleased.

Easily hit the stud on either end. The spin on cover got stuck (my fault) and I had to loosen everything to get it. Should have foreseen that.

The grab bar serves its purpose and is attractive. Very satisfied.

siple stong easy to install. I installed it into studs of course. the screws that come with it are stainless steel and iron to striping your may want to use some of your own or have back ups.

As advertised. Easy to install just take your time to line up the pilot holes.

Look great. I like the slope shouldered escutcheon and the color is light, not a dark industrial looking blued stainless. Installed by others. I elected to open the walls and add wood behind the attachment points where drywall anchors would have been used otherwise. So they are very solid.

Grab bars of this length are not in store stock. Ordering was easy to do and free delivery to the local store was as promised. Pickup at the store was fast and efficient. This bar has excellent quality and finish with extra-long stainless steel mounting screws included in the kit. The covers at each end snap over the mounting flange and fit tightly to the wall for a very neat professional appearance. This product is highly recommended.

If you are replacing a bar and there are old holes, you have to be very careful with this. There are 5 or 6 holes in the plate, not an open circle where you can put the screws just any place. I had to replace an old square type back plate, which had 3 holes on each end, each hole was over 1/4' round in the tile. This posed a big problem for me. To cover up the old holes, I could only match one of the top holes, and had to drill 5 new ones. Very tricky with the holes that are on this plate. If you are too near the old holes, you will wind up drilling into the old hole, and you will have a hole so big, no anchor will be big enough. That happened to me with one of the holes. With the toggle anchors I bought, I had to drill 1/2" holes. I could not see behind the plate when I was trying to line up the plates on each end. One hole got ruined, but since I used the metal/ nylon type drywall type anchors, the other 5 holes are so strong, they should be enough. According to the 1/4" anchors package, each one will hold 80 lbs in drywall, so 5 x 80 = 400 lbs. of strength, which is enough for my and my wife. I suggest if you are replacing a bar, get a bar that does not have exact holes like this does. Get one that has an open slit so you have much more options for the new holes. Also - use a tile bit, not a masonry bit, they work better. And don't use the hammer function, you might crack or loosen the tile. Just make a tiny starter hole with an awl or a center punch first, tapping lightly with a hammer. This will prevent the bit from moving when you start the hole. Replace the bolts that came with the bar with stainless steel ones. I don't know if the bolts that came with it are stainless, they usually are not. The way this is designed, the water will get into the opening, and rust will be dripping down the wall after some years. Another cheaper thing to do is put silicone all over the tops of the bolts. Make sure you put silicone all around the top edge of the back plate before you put on the top plate, but leave about one inch of open area at the bottom so water can drip out.

What drill?? This is a grab bar!!! Used for safety grab bar in shower/bath.
