I installed this hood using the outside venting option. I bought the non-return damper through Home Depot as well. Since they had to order the hood also it didn't add any extra time to the delivery. If you need to use recirc then you must purchase additional parts. It is not loud at all, even on the high setting it is quieter than the over-range microwave vent hood I used to have. Don't be alarmed when you open the box and everything looks white, it's just the protective plastic they have on all the stainless steel parts. I do agree with other reviewers that the light at the back of the hood doesn't help much but overall I'm very happy with this hood. Looks great in my kitchen!

Installation was easy and the hood looks great. The clock goes from 11:00 to 00:00 and has to be reset every 12 hours. The light burnt out and home depot does not carry a replacement.

This hood looks great, but sounds like a 747 landing in your kitchen on the most powerful level. It captures the steam on the glass and converts it to drops of water which drip back down onto the cooktop below. I would not purchase it again.

This range hood looks great and vents well. The light is at the very back of the hood and it takes a 40 watt MAXIMUM bulb. That is not nearly enough light. I had to install additional cam lighting over my cooktop to get adequate light. I would only recommend this if you have enough lighting in your cooking area already.

The fan is more noisy than expected. The light is not very bright and it's in the back of the hood, so it lights the backsplash instead of the stove below it. It's beautiful to look at and not hard to clean, but the lighting and noise are disappointments.

if you plan on venting through the wall, and you don't have 8ft ceilings, therefore not using the 'telescoping' add-on the install of this thing is a NIGHTMARE. It is physically impossible to put the glass on with the brackets then put duct housing on if you don't leave at least 1-2" of space at the top before the ceiling...this is a SERIOUS design flaw. if it didn't look so good ( a bit big for my kitchen too) i would have returned this in a heartbeat...

Bought this unit for kitchen remodel I am very satisfied with the operation. two negatives but easily solved are 1. the damper for outside exhaust has to be purchased from a separate company before install. 2. the lamp also has to be bought from that same company and home depot does not stock it nor does local lighting stores. but overall I am happy with unit that looks as good and operates like units costing hundreds more.
