Surface prep is the key when using this product. Acid washed my patio twice using a stiff bristtle brush and then power washed. After 24 hrs applied behr bonding primer and waited 4 hours before applying stain. Applied 2 coats waiting 4 hours in between coats and the results were great. Used 2 entire gallons for 300 sq ft of stamped concrete walkway. We’ll see how it holds up through the winter months. Overall, wife and I are pleased with the final result.

I made a pondless waterfall and used rough faced concrete blocks for the frame structure. I didn't want to leave the blocks unfinished and went to Home Depot to ask their staff which product would be best for this project. A special thanks to Dave/head of the paint department in Payson, AZ. He was very knowledgeable and recommended the perfect solution/product. He also gave great info on the application process and is an asset to this store.

This product along with required bonding agent, by Behr also, is the quintessential solution for surface treatment of bare concrete walls, floor, exterior stoops, patios, entranceways, foundation surfaces with multiple and varied choices of decorative colors and applications.
Each application of product step takes a minimum of three to four hours drying time for the application of bonding agent and then the application of the stain product with three to fours hours drying time, using brush or roller tools.
My experience is that brush and roller clean by water cleansing and drying is best for both the bonding agent and stain product immediately upon project completion.

Very pleased with solid color stain
This stain worked so well I felt compelled to write a review. I made sure to follow the instructions and couldn't be more pleased with the finish of the stain. I was staining a concrete deck area that was made up of slabs poured at three different times, by three different vendors, with three different concrete mixes. This stain set a superb uniform color across all three areas. Looks great, love the color, a fraction of the cost of having a pro do a deck stain, highly recommended.

Color is not accurate
HD rep says the color would be pinkish from matching with the piece of brick I brought in. So I picked Terra Brick from the color chart. Turns out it's pinkish too. Behr customer Care is very helpful, they offer a replacement for free. Then I picked a darker color, the Red Potato, it's more orange than brown. The color is much brighter than the chart. If the color matters very much, be careful. The rep at HD may not have the expertise to provide sound advice.

Doesn't cover crack filler
Disappointed. I have a 20ft x 10ft concrete deck with two cracks that have been repaired with crack filler. Home Depot paint rep said to use this stain instead of paint. After applying two coats per instructions, area coverage was good but crack filler still obvious under the stain. The whole point of this project was to cover the repaired cracks to be uniform with the rest of the deck. What now? Cover with paint?

Behr concrete stain Horrible experience
Bought 4 gallons Concrete stain. Prepared concrete by etching/priming, then staining. Temperature was 75 degrees. Location, outdoor patio. TWO DAYS LATTER Large areas bubbled/ peeling up. Scrapped areas
etched /primed, stained AGAIN over the MANY AREAS pealed up. Less than a week some of the same areas,as well as more areas peeling and bubbling up.
Have MANY pictures ( will add when I obtain a response. Have them on anotherphone). Horrible product. Have No idea how to correct this.

To fix this, we recommend removing the loose coating by scraping or sanding, spot etching the bare concrete as needed, and allowing the surface to dry thoroughly. I love Behr solid color concrete stain

Is NOT a true stain
I used this product on my porch and shed floor. As you can see it only “painted” the top layer of the concrete. Stain is suppose to penetrate. I had an object fall on the porch and floor and it scratched off the color!! I used their 880 primer but that didn’t make a difference in it staining the concrete. I prepped and etched as it states to.
I was of a waist a lot of money.

That is not the experience we want for our customers, and I want to help turn this around. Our Solid Color Concrete Stain is a film-forming stain that is not formulated to penetrate concrete. The coating should dry and be fully cured within about 14 days to be able to provide the proper protection and durability. During that time, we recommend being gentle on the coating to avoid any abrasions or touch-ups. To fix the scratch, I recommend removing any loose coating and making sure that the surface is clean and dry. If the area is bare, prime the concrete before touching up the spot. Getting used to the brighter color
The color is much brighter than in the catalog or online, however, I am getting used to it and now rather like it. It certainly is cheerful as winter descends! The color also seems to be deepening slightly as it cures. Still, I think Behr needs to either change the colors displayed in the catalog and online or adjust the actual stain colors to be more accurate. It is frustrating to end up with a very different color tone than you expected.
