Worst paint ever
We painted our kitchen cabinets ourselves with this paint and it is some of the worst paint I have ever used. We followed the instructions to a tee: took the cabinets off sanded, primed, and put 2 coats of paint with a sprayer on our cabinets, waiting the prescribed amount of time between coats. Only a few months after use, we noticed the horrible wear on the edges of the cabinets where we don't even touch, because we have knobs and pulls. The paint also rubs off when you wipe gently.

Hi Jenna, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with our Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel. That is not the performance we expect of the paint, and I can understand your disappointment. To fix the finish, I recommend removing any loose coating before making sure the cabinets are clean and dry. Then, prime the bare areas to ensure the proper adhesion before touching up the spots. If needed, recoat the surface for uniformity. I know this was unexpected. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we want you to be happy with your project. Please feel free to reach out to us directly so we can learn more about your project and assist. We look forward to hearing from you! -Lina Behr

    Avoid This Product
I have never written a review for any product, but I’m compelled to do so now. Not sure what Behr is going for here, but it is so frustrating. This paint has zero working time. OK, to be fair, you have about 30 seconds before it sets up and is no longer workable. You have to paint so fast to avoid brush marks and that is not always possible….especially with complex trim. I finished painting the base trim on a stairwell and it frankly looks terrible. I know another coat will help, but painting shouldn’t be this annoying. I’m glad my family wasn’t home to hear my colorful use of the English language.

Hi Todd, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and I understand how frustrating this must have been. This should be workable and dry to recoat after about two hours. However, if the paint is drying too fast, it can be thinned with up to 4oz. of water per gallon to extend the working time. If this has left a texture on the surface, I recommend sanding, cleaning, and priming with the Kitchen, Bath and Trim Primer No. 75 and applying a minimum of two coats of Cabinet, Door and Trim Paint. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance. Our customer care team is happy to help you! - Randy Behr

      Huge Disappointment
I worked in Home Depot's paint depart for 2 years and Behr was always such a standup brand. I've used it on all of the projects for the last 27 years. I decided to paint my kitchen cabinets. I prepped them properly, used the kitchen, cabinet and trim primer by Behr, applying 2 coats & then I used the Cabinet /Trim paint to which I had to apply anywhere from 2-4 coats on! All cured and dried before any other coat was placed. Now the paint is peeling! Contacted Behr still waiting for a response

Hi Tina, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about your experience using the Cabinet, Door and Trim Semi-Gloss Paint. Typically, this should cover in two coats when applied to a primed surface. Additional coats can be applied after just two hours of drying. However, if that paint is allowed to cure for 7 days or more before another coat is applied, scuff sanding the glossy surface may be needed for proper adhesion. Nonetheless, your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback and for reaching out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help you! - Randy Behr

          Beautiful results
I bought a townhouse with very low quality cabinetry. Didn’t really have the budget to replace everything but I wanted to paint it at least. I’m not much of a DIY-er, so I scrub the cabinets with a liquid D gloss her and went to work with this paint. The results were way better than I could have imagined. I used a brush on some spots and a roller on other spots and it actually came out even and you couldn’t tell which surface used. Why! It dried so evenly!

            Paint that Pops
Super easy to work with, goes on smooth and dry time is perfect. I’ve used this paint for both cabinets and doors. Fiji was a perfect fit for our color combination.

              disappointed
Picked up the paint, went to apply paint to trim work and paint was blue not black. Was told there are no refunds on this item. Makes me hesitant to purchase any more paint. Aside from this issue which may be a store problem, I absolutely love behr paint.

did everything Behr mentions in this response from Ronald Behr( had to edit a bit can not put all words here), still have cracks!!! Hi Rodd, . Be prepared for multiple coats
This paint was very thin. It took 3 coats to cover. I should have spent an extra $20 and bought Benjamin Moore and saved myself a lot of time. It does look nice when finished.

Really disappointed, cracks over latex caulk
I built a bench in my mudroom. I primed all of the boards before assembly and then caulked the small gaps with Alex Plus caulk. I have used this process countless times before. The paint cracked over every caulk joint. The manufacturer really needs to be a lot clearer on the label when it comes to paint prep with latex caulk. Really disappointed.

Hi Bhart, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about your paint cracking. That is not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. Our Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel should adhere to paintable caulk, given that it has been prepared beforehand. To fix the cracking, I recommend letting the paint dry for 24 hours before gently sanding the surface with 180-240 grit sandpaper to remove the loose coating. Make sure the area is clean and dry before priming the bare spots with our Kitchen, Bath, & Trim Primer (No. 75) and touching up the boards. Recoat the surface if needed for uniformity. Cracks over Dap Alex Plus caulk
This product has cracks over all caulking that I applied after properly cleaning and priming woodwork. I applied this with a quality Wooster brush as I have with other paints many many times before. There are cracks over everywhere that I applied Dap Alex Plus caulk. I allowed the caulk to dry 5 days before applying the first coat. On flat surfaces it is fine, but it cracked over all places that were caulked. I don’t know what I I am going to do now. I have wasted time and money!!!

                        Color is not as pictured
This is listed as navy blue, with a picture shown of the color, like a darker moody blue (which is what I was going for), and it definitely came out as royal blue. Very annoyed and disappointed.

                          Orange Peel is bad!
Been using SW Emerald with really good results on my cabinets but they couldn’t mix the color I wanted. HD guy said ‘no problem! Did a test piece on a new piece of 3/4” birch plywood. Sanded, primed, sanded, cleaned and applied the first coat using a 4” 1/4” nap roller. Immediately I knew it was going to be a problem as it orange peeled right away. Just as bad after a second coat. So disappointed! But a good thing I did a test piece before starting in my finished pieces.

Beautiful finish on my wooden kitchen cabinets. I used cherry cola color and after through sanding, and painting with the semi gloss three coats it’s perfect like factory finish. Paint was easy to apply with spray and dried quickly. Three coats applied same day. It’s been two weeks since and love it.

                                  Don’t bother with this paint
If you are going to spray this all in one shot with a high quality sprayer it’s fine. Hit or miss with Graco 360 VSP tips. Gets tacky almost immediately upon application and does not level after that. Since it says “DO NOT THIN” even though it clearly needs the working time extended and is too thick to shoot reliably I’m going to stop using it. When I tested all of the trim paints at HD, this was the best one and it still suffers from the too thick nature of Behr paint.

If the caulking is in an area that is moved when the door is opened and closed, that could cause the paint to crack. Also make sure that you are using a caulk that can be painted over. Would use a different paint in the future
I used this paint to paint my kitchen cabinets black. I washed with tsp, sanded, and primed with Behr and then did two coats of this paint. Its patchy and you can see where the roller ended and paint brush strokes. It looked great when wet but dried to show all these flaws. I used Magnolia paint on my bathroom vanities and it looks beautiful, no brush or roller marks and it took a lot less paint and coats for a uniform look. I'm stuck with having used Behr now, but would use Magnolia next time.

Dark colored paint is a waste of $$
Bought this paint as recommended by HD employee. We painted our upper kitchen cabinets an off white, exact same process of cleaning, sanding and priming. Exact same paint, except color. These cabinets get just as much use as our lowers. Uppers have held up great. The lowers, we got deep blue sea, it's a "navy" color, the paint seems tachy in some areas, scuffs and chips SO easily. When lightly cleaning with water, paint color comes off on rag. I'm having to redo ALL lower cabinets. Waste of $!

The Cabinet & Trim Paint typically cures in about 7 days, darker colors can take a little longer. If the paint has been applied for longer than a week, I'd recommend lightly cleaning the coating with soap and water and it should help remove the tackiness. The enamel paint for cabinets is great. My problem is with the color sage brush s370-3. This is in no way Sage. It is MINT. Think Girl Scout cookie thin mint green. I looked at it in cool light and warm light. Kept the piece I painted in the well lit kitchen for 24 hours with natural day light. . It was mint in all lighting. Nothing about this color is earthy sage. Thank goodness that HD will re-tint your paint. I was able to get a more satisfying color. It’s not sage either but I’ll take it.

                                            Love my new kitchen
Seems like it will hold up except for the areas that are touched a lot, like the edges of the counter where people lean up against. It’s been 3 months and those areas already need touching up. Everything else looks great. I did use a liquid cleanser, scuffed up the finish and applied two coats of primer before applying two coats of the cabinet enamel.
