Not happy. Color & texture off. Not as advertised. Love Behr interior paints & been loyal for years. But something happened here…They need to figure out this concrete stain soon. I need to return these 3 gallons. But how?

Pleasantly surprised
Let me start by saying when I first bought this stain I originally had the idea to try and do a faux brick design with a sponge. However, with the stain being so thin, it did not turn out well as the stain would just run down. Luckily, I had tried it on a column out of sight so I said what the heck I’m going to stain the whole Column and see how it looks. And man am I happy that I did. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. I would highly recommend I used the tint cedar blush.

    Pool Pavers
Our pavers are old and faded. We liked the original look. Didn’t want to paint over them or try a different color. If they showed thru would look odd or require multiple coats to look uniform. Went with Greystone which is also called Moth White in the brochure. Maybe we didn’t get Greystone because it has blue in it. Surprised how well one coat looked. Looks more new again. 4 gallons. Used a brush on the coping and sprayer on everything else. Sealer is next.

      Restored our stamped concrete patio!
I spent a lot of time scanning reviews and competing products, but went with Behr. Decided on base of Cedar Blush, but some reviews noted that it was very red-orange, so I topped two base coats with one coat of Walnut. Came out exactly as I’d hoped! Note: Success is in the prep; believe it. I power-washed, then applied Zep stripper to remove any old sealer. Applied this product (and sealer) thinly by pump-sprayer, back-rolling the sealer in 4x4 sections. Very pleased.

        completely the wrong color
This is far more red/orange than the photos. Now i am stuck with a patch of concrete that i’ll have to finish in the wrong color or completely start over with finding some way to undo what ive started. Waste of time and money

The worse product, don’t buy it !!!
We decided to go with the copper canyon, as we liked the deep red/brown color. We got a pumpkin light orange color. The color of the actual stain look like a pumpkin color too. So we traded it in for the carob color, which is a very dark brown. We got a dirt color on our beige/white decorative stone. Finally we decided to go for a slightly darker beige and we got the old adobe color. We then got as a result a punk colored stone! Completely innaccurate for everything!

              MISLEADING INFORMATION
Canal Blue goes on clean cement as a very bright blue. The result was nothing like online pictures or the brochure in the Home Depot store. The bright blue was unacceptable. I experimented with another coat of light gray. In the end, that result is acceptable, but I do not understand the need to experiment. Customer service in the paint department at the local Home Depot store was not helpful. I contacted Behr directly with proof of purchase and photos. They did not reply.

                Cedar Blush on Brick Paver
Color selection was tricky. Smaller size sample stains are not available. I ended up choosing cedar blush and brownstone. I applied with a garden sprayer as suggested and it worked well and was very easy. My patio was very porous so I needed much more than I had thought. Like 3X as much! 2 coats stain then sealed with the Behr wet look sealer 2X. The photos show wet areas, very orange, dry is more red then sealer lightens that a bit. Stepping stones in brownstone.

                  Not durable at all.
This product is not durable. Within 2 weeks, concrete surface was chipped by foot and paw traffic. 2 coats! Whole area needs to be redone. Will choose different brand.

                    Looked good
I had a entirely new driveway poured & decided I wanted it colored(not just grey). I purchased many gallons of this item & sprayed it on with a pump sprayer. It looked good, then I covered it with $225 five gallon sealer(rated excellent). It seemed okay until it snowed & then turned to ice. Whenever you shoveled off the ice after it had melted enough it took the sealer & stain right off. Now my driveway is blotchy. It also gets scratch marks extremely easily. This product might be fine in warm weather climates but not here in Colorado. I should have gone with the Acid wash stain(albeit more expensive).

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that your coating is coming off when shoveling snow off your driveway. That is not the experience we want for our customers. While our Semi-Transparent Decorative Concrete Stain is not designed to take on this type of abrasiveness, I'm concerned that it came off the surface after that had been sealed. Not satisfied
This was supposedly light colored. It’s dark, like navy. My floor is blue. BLUE. It didn’t matter if it was sprayed or rolled, it came out the same. Pretty but not at at all what is shown in the brochure.

                        Excellent
Stripped the solvent based sealer off my faded stamped patio then pressure washed it. Sprayed 2 coats of stain on it following directions then 36 hours later sealed with TRAZ 25A solvent based sealer. Came our great, wish it came in quarts.

                          Love the look
The instructions say to put on with roller and brush for even coat, and sprayer for uneven….I found the opposite! Put 2 coats with roller (brush to cut in), and roller left lines and block section. I warmed up the air compressor and grabbed the low pressure spray gun, and gently filled in the light areas, and feathered it all out. Came out beautiful and wished I had sprayed first!!! I used compressor and LP spray gun, NOT the garden pump sprayer.

Color illustrations are nothing like the result
I have plain concrete pavers that I wanted to stain to match already-installed pavers so I picked a color / shade that was as close as I could match to the illustrations on the Home Depot website. The illustrations show a speckled look, but what I got looked as if I had painted mustard on my pavers -- literally. Just a pasty, ugly yellow with no texture of any kind.

Hi Dale, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear the color and finish of our Decorative Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain did not turn out how you expected. Colors can sometimes look different online depending on your screen settings, so we recommend checking them out in person at your local Home Depot. And to get a natural stone look, I recommend applying the stain with a high-quality pump sprayer using a circular motion. Customer Satisfaction is very important to us, so feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. They are always happy to help. Awesome product - follow the directions.
This stuff is awesome. I was up in the air about whether to use the Valspar or the Beher. After reading a ton of reviews, decided to go with Behr. It didn't disappoint. Do the following... 1. rent a concrete grinder, etching does not produce the same results. 2. apply with a pump sprayer according to the directions. 3. Let dry for 24 hours before sealing.

                                Concrete stain worked well
First time trying this but happy with results. I wanted the Earth Fire color, and was instructed to apply the Cedar Blush first, which was very orange, but then applied Brownstone over it and got the color I was hoping for. I used a 3/4” roller. It is very thin and you do need to be careful about about drips and overlaps, but those worked out and added to the brick look of our stamped concrete walkway and driveway edging.

Works incredibly well on old pavers!
I’m so pleased with this stain! I bought too much thinking I would need several coats to stain my old, pink pavers to the Arctic black color. However 2 coats was sufficient! Highly recommend! NOTE: It would NOT stain new pavers. They may have been treated or something, and maybe that was the problem but I’d check first if you’re wanting to stain new ones.

                                    staining old concrete
the concrete I have is very old as I'm sure it was poured in 1997. Even when I etched with muriatic acid it was so spotchy. So I decided to go with that. I bought 3 different colors of stain, a texture roller and went to work. I added more sploch. it came out an artsy distressed look and I love it.

I wish it were a little thicker, but it's fine. We decided to do a mosaic look on our new stamped patio that didn't quite go with our reddish brown brick. I really like the result. We still need to have it sealed. It would have been nice if I could have bought them in quarts.

Worked great to change toe color of a retaining wall
I used the stain to change the color of a new 60' long 3' high interlocking block retaining wall that I just had installed. I went with the contractors recommendation to use gray rather than tan. The wall looked very "industrial" and did not fit with the backyard. I sprayed the wall with the stain and it looks 200% better and the wall now blends in with the surroundings, to my relief, because the wall cost a lot of money. I was able to use a garden sprayer to apply the stain and it was super easy to apply and then clean the sprayer with soap and water. I am very happy with the stain.

Behr®, Decorative Concrete Stain. We chose to use a pump sprayer and used Graystone and accented with the Artic Black. Once dry, we applied the low luster sealer 1 coat and allowed to dry, I then added the Behr® anti-slip to the second gallon. Overall I am very pleased.

                                              NOT STAIN
This is more like a thin paint. It DOES NOT adhere well. I laid new concrete, followed the instructions exactly, and it comes up with high pressure on my hose and with a pressure washer. I dont know how you can call this a stain. Definitely misleading at a minimum.

I'm very sorry to hear about the peeling issue experienced, as that's never what we want our customers to go through. Good Concrete Stain!!
Pictures are a work in progress. Still need to be filled in and sealed. This is a pretty good concrete stain. This is NOT a paint, but a true stain. Not sure how long it will last as I have just put it on. Colors are pretty true to the samples online as well as the pamphlet they have in store. You may have to reapply to get darker colors. This stain was applied to unsealed concrete that is brand new with no weathering, or sealer, picture included. The colors in the pictures are Desert Gold(the yellowish one), Granite Green, Adobe(the pinkish flesh color one), and Cedar Blush. The Cedar Blush is very pigmented. Some of them have 2 applications, some just one. The Granite Green are mostly single applications. The Desert Gold and Adobe are single and double applications. Still messing with which ones I want a little darker. With the amount of pavers you see in the pictures, I used about 1/4 of the gallon. A little goes a long way. It was very easy to apply with a paintbrush. Clean-up was simple. It is very watery so I am doing the pavers before we fill in between them. Would have been a nightmare to try and do it afterward without it running all over the mortar mix filling. Overall, I am very happy with this product. As you can see, the colors look different from different angles.

Let me say I have not completely finished my project. I power washed my patio on Sunday and used a pump sprayer with Behr concrete stain today. After about 4 hours I was curious about the "wet look" sealer. Let me say that many reviewers are confusing "wet look" with "glossy" they ARE NOT the same. So I used a paint brush (although tomorrow I will be using the pump sprayer) to test this sealer in a few areas. I read lots of reviews about spots and foaming etc but I experienced none of that. I put down an even coat then left it alone for another 2 to 3 hours and went back out to take a look. It is BEAUTIFUL and more like there is dew on it even though it is completely dry. My tiles/pavers were just plain white concrete. I also believe the wet look will vary depending upon the material. I am very satisfied at this point and will update if need be.

Behr Decorative Concrete stain is a great product to make concrete look a little nicer. I used it on a pad I laid outside of my shed.  With 2 coats it covered well and dries well. The temp has been cold so, I am not sure if it would look different putting it on in warmer weather. The directions read 50 degrees and up. I didn't use a sprayer but applied it with a cloth because it was a small area. It turned out as expected. I am inexperienced in a project like this, so someone with more expertise could probably make it look better. It has great coverage. 2 coats on a pad about 5 ft by 8 ft, used about 1/4 of the gallon. It is very runny, I would recommend wearing latex gloves to prevent staining your hands.

I have a number of stonework projects I've done around my home. Over time some have started to fade in color from the sun and elements. I used this Behr Premium Copper Canyon Semi-Transparent Flat Concrete Stain to refresh some of the stone. Depending on the surface you plan to use this on, you may need to do a fair amount of prep work. Since I'm simply refreshing the look of stone, I only washed off the surfaces. I love how easy it is to apply this stain. It goes on well and looks like stain not paint. In certain respects it made cheap concrete pavers look better than they did when purchased. I'll definitely keep this around.

This is a really nice decorative stain that can be used on patios, walkways, or concrete. We've used a lot of Behr paint in our house during our recent round of home renovations and we've been thrilled with their products. We're going to use this stain next spring when we do some outdoor projects but I did a quick splash test on concrete on the side of our house and it looked really good. Granted, it was just a sampling and I cleaned it up right away, but I liked the effect it had on the concrete.
